I saw some of Travis's work on another forum and sent him an email with the specifications that I wanted in a knife using his drop point design. The knife at this link is the one he made for me. It's tool steel that he grinds, heat treats and tempers himself. The handles are Texas Ebony wood with the mosaic pin and lanyard hole and it has a tapered tang. I had him make mine larger than his Smithwick since I have large hands. The sheath he made for it is top notch as well. http://travisknives.com/?p=395

I went through three whitetail deer with it, gutting skinning and quartering and after a few passes on leather it would still shave the hair off my arm.

If anyone is in the market for a good quality knife take a look at his site and send him your requests and desires. I doubt his knives will stay as inexpensive as they are for much longer.
