There's lots of .375 Weatherby data out there. Since the .375 AI is non-standard, you still need to start with basic .375 H&H loads and a chronograph and inch your way up to loads in the .375 Wby range. Some of the guys on the board have found their highest velocities with RL17; but others have found it to be temperature sensitive, so YMMV.

I own a .375 ICL, so I'm very much in the same boat.

analog,
I fireformed a couple of 375 WM in my .375AI and the AI's shoulder is quite a bit further foward than the Weatherby's. I did shoot 1 max load for the Weatherby in my rifle and it was quite mild.

analog,
Thanks for that! The info will be very helpful as I have R17, H4350 and H414(760).

I'm not familiar with the .375 ICL---can you give me a little background on it.

Thanx---Hip

I met Arnold in the mid-eighties when I lived in Reno. I barely had two nickels to rub together at the time, so his Saturn rifles were very much above my touch. A few years ago, I had the opportunity to pick up a couple of his rifles for very reasonable $$$, so I did, more for the nostalgia than for any other reason. The .300 has been hunted, but the .375 has only a couple of minor safe dings; it's in very nice shape.

Okay guys-----went to the range today and shot the 375AI. The load was 85 gr. BL-C (2) under a 235 gr. Speer, CCI250 LRM primers and reformed .340 Weatherby brass. On the third shot upon ejecting the brass I found 2-3 large dents in the shoulder area. I fired a total of 8 rounds and of the eight 3 were dented. I know they are not oil dents or from debris in the chamber as I clean the chamber with a dry patch after cleaning the barrel. This was the 3rd loading of this bras.
It also happened with 1 piece of .300 Weatherby brass when I was fireforming it with 70 gr. IMR 3031.
Anyone have and ideas-gas blowing back in some way?

Either low pressure load or brass necks being work hardened. Without knowing velocity, I can't guess at which.

.375 H&H data plus 5% or, as mentioned, .375 Weatherby data but work all loads up.

Well I went to the range today I broken down the remaining unfired 12 rounds----annealed the cases and loaded them with 74 gr. Imr 4064, cci 250 primers and 270 gr. Speer BT. Shoot good--no problems!

Hip

P.S. That load is 2/10 gr. over Hornady's WEatherby max---no high pressure or heavy bolt lift.

with my 375 Weatherby (Winchester stainless 70 with 24" barrel)

1) 88 gr H4350 300 Nosler AB; Fed 215; 2768 FPS @ 70 F
2) 88 gr H4350 300 TSX: Fed 215; 2783 FPS @ 60F
Very accurate (primary hand load)
3) Nosler factory 300 gr NP; 2784 FPS
Very accurate
4) The Norma suggested max load of N204 achieved roughly 2640 FPS in my rifle. Far less than advertised

The old timers told me in the beginning that you could add 5% to the H&H load recommendations.

It worked for me, but the Ackley book has a number of loads, and trust me they are max, but they have all worked without incident for me, but I usually cut them back a grain or two to save brasss life..Also I don't care for pushing a 375 bullet past the standard 2500 FPS that's kind on bullet expansion with softs and on straight penetration with solids.

I built a 9.3x375 and its close to a 375/06 Ackley IMP or better yet the Gibbs version..

Got 2555 FPS with a 300 gr. bullet, the some ballistics I get with my 375 H&H hunting loads, However a 375 H&H will get 2650 or there abouts with a max load...but you get much better penetration and proper expansion at 2500 to 2550 FPS with most bullets, and its very effective on cape buffalo and all African game.
