My loads are all using Ramshot Big Game.
270 grain Speer and 286 grain PRVI bullets, Graf brass, CCI or WW primers.
64 grains with the 270 grain bullet and 62.5 up to 64 grains for the 286 grain bullets.
Sub MOA. My rifle is really light, 20" barrel and kicks with a lot of muzzle jump so loads above 64 grains and 286 grains bullets are not fun from the bench.
A heavier rifle would be tame with the same load.

Thanks

Big Game and Hunter and CFE223 were options too but I don't have any.

I use 58.5 gr of R15 with 286 gr. bullets. Start a little lower and work up. Very accurate and pleasant to shoot.

4320 works well; most any medium burning powder works in them.

I like IMR-4320, RL-15, H414 depending on the bullet..Actually I found RL-17 to be as good as any powder, but I have so much RL-15 and H414 that I didn't think the extra velocity I got with it was worth the trouble, The 9.3x62 doesn't kill with velocity anyway, it kills by bullet weight and cross section of the .366 bullet..I've settled on 2519 FPS with a 286 Nosler with RL-15 and about the same with H414 in my 9.3x62s and these max loads work on anything from Duiker to Buffalo, and with a solid it would work on elephant I'm pretty sure, but Im not going to shoot elephant with a 9.3 of any kind, I have a bigger gun for that. That RL-17s 75 to a 100 FPS more is nice but not necessary..If I run out of RL-15 and H414, I will pursue my loading with RL-17 and see how far I can go with it..

I tried IMR-4895, 4350, 4320, 4064, 3031 for my 286 gr 9.3x62 reloads.

IMR-4320 was the head-over-heels winner.

If I was starting over again I'd try Reloader-17 and 19 in a mix that included IMR-4320.

I have 286 gr Woodleigh RNSNs seated at the cannelure, 3.23" with CCI #200 primers and 58 gr of Varget at 2,380 fps and sub-moa. I couldn't get any other bullets to group worth a darn and the RNSN allows a lot more powder in the case. 59 gr gave me 2,420 fps, but the rifle is so light I figured a grain less would help on the recoil. Still working on the FMJ loads. Think 57.7 gr will give me same POI based on other tests I've down at 57, 57.5, and 58 grains.

The plus of the RNSNs is that I use them in my 9.3x57 as well.

So far I'm getting great groups with Varget under the Woodleigh 286 PP and RN as well as the Hornady 286gr.

Haven't tried any other powder and probably won't. Groups are at 100 yds with the bullets seated at the cannelure.

The 9.3x62 has never been picky about bullets or powder has been my experience with it over the years...That's a definite plus.

Seems true to me that most 30 06-based cartridges aren't that finicky....maybe smaller bore, but not larger.

Tried some RL 17 today. 22inch barrel, .020 from the lands. col 3.478. 250 nosler accubond. worked up to 64gr. 6 rounds 2534 to 2569 fps @64 grns. Accuracy fell apart at 62 gr when I passed 2400. Back to TTSX and AA2700.

An FYI, the 9,3x62 isn't an '06 based cartride.

Yes, Mike, I am aware of that. Otto Boch is probably rolling in his grave.

I guess I should have said 06-sized cartridges. The basic shape, IMO, makes it relatively forgiving of variation.

An old argument, but in fact the 9.3x62 should not be used with 30-06 brass as it creates a bulge at the base of the 06 case, and it does run pressures up some amount..and it costs one powder capacity, brass will be overworked and less efficient and velocity is lost...

9.3x62 brass is as cheap as 30-06 brass, especially from PPU, and that's the best brass in the world..

I do understand the reference in the above post and its not too far off base and its been used a lot, but its without substance with max loading. I would not want to use my max load of 59 grs of RL-15 or 60 grs of H414 in a 06 case..but its fine in my 9.3x62s Ive owned over the years...

I used 30-06 brass in my first 9.3x62 back in the day when 9.3x62 brass was all but not even heard of in the USA..None of it lasted past 4 or so reloadings as the brass was over worked and to neck size left the bulge in the base and chambering became a real world problem with heavy loads anyway..then the 9.3x62 came into its rebirth and is once more a doable round even in the USA..

A few months ago I picked up a CZ 550. The previous owner had done some custom stocks over the years and reshaped this one in a classic English style (short, thin forend, pancake cheekpiece, barrel band swivel). He had also done some load development and provided components, loaded rounds and data with the gun. One of the loads is Varget, 60 gr. I think, with a Barnes 250 TTSX. It had chronographed around 2550. With a 4x scope it was no trouble to shoot a 5 shot group of about 1.1" at 100 yds. Good enough for me. Kind of a boring gun, he did all the tinkering and all I have to do is shoot it. He's also developed a load with the 286 gr., but I haven't tried that yet.

I have shared my articles and loads on this great caliber with many of you. One of those articles has a good bullet test report.

PM me with email if you want the info.

My go to powder is Varget (AR2208). I have a good supply of Lapua Mega 285gr bullets.

My standard load is 60 gr ART2208 with 285gr bullets for around 2450 fps.

I get close to 2600 fps with Barnes TSX 250gr and Nosler Accubond 250 gr - 62 gr AR2208

IMR 3031 gave me great velocity but the point of impact went up by10 inches! That was very strange, as most of my loads using 250 to 320 bullets shot within a dinner plate, the 320gr Woodleighs being 6 inches low.

All my 250 to 286 gr bullets from TSX, Accubond, Lapua, Norma, Woodleigh & Hornady would shoot into a 4 or 5 inch group at 100 meters without changing scope settings.

Jeffrey,
That sounds a lot like a gun I would have been messing with. I mean I usually do the same thing as you mention right down to the 4X scope!! Anyway me and the original owner must have a lot in common... dancing
