I'm on the class action suit with you had mine on order for over 2 years. I was told sometime in June of 07 then Jan of 08 then March of 08. Time has come and gone. I will get a letter out to him sometime in June stating action or return my money.

I hope that MRC has better luck making the PH action. My LH 505 has been in the works for 2.5 years.

Tip Burns and John Valicek have had my woodblank and barrel forever and are just waiting on an action!

I hope that it does not come to legal action since venue would lie in Washington State and attorney's fee and travel would eat up the 2000+ I have on deposit. I would, if it came to that, engage the Postal Inspectors Office to pursue a mail fraud investigation

Recall that Hein advertised heavily by email, reaching out to other states and thereby giving jurisdiction in many states other than WA.

I wonder if the BATFE would entertain a group complaint about Hein's apparently dishonest behavior.

Yes, Hein supplies actions to HCR-their DG rifle now features Hein actions.

But they are not the N-Series action. they are a round body not a flat bottom action.

I have a custom rifle for sale that was built on the Peter Noreen action (now the N-series by Hein). 450 Rigby. pm for details if interested.

More importantly, he is not dealing with them, refusing to answer phone calls or emails and in fact telling one customer never to call him, contact him or visit his shop even though Hein has thousands of dollars of the customer's money! Nope. If you go over to the OTHER Hein thread, you'll see a picture of a generic barreled N series action and a wood blank that appears to be mine. Your cover has been blown. If Herr Hein hears the Harley pulling up outside the shop he will duck and run. Think alternative transportation, or at least park a couple of blocks away and sneak up on him.

Not defending anyone here -- don't know enough to... Why these 'smiths don't either limit their orders/be upfront about times is something I don't understand -- not making a delivery date is a disaster in most (if not all) industries that I'm aware of -- and if you can't make it, it's grossly irresponsible not to notify others as soon as you know of a problem, so that they can mitigate the damage.

With that said, no one deserves having the BATFE vermin called on them. You may not like the guy, but that's no reason to call for his, and his family's execution...

That's easy to say when you're not in Jorge's position. I think if someone stole several thousand dollars from your family, you'd be willing to get the authorities involved.

If I was not dead already I would do anything possible to avoid a BATFE raid, which is usually done while owner absent, safes drilled, etc. Impoundment of everyone's property and assets for several years while awaiting trial is a very miserable contemplation in itself.
The possibility of that is a real attention getter.

Just the 'threat' of a BATFE visit may be sufficient to grab the attention of the deposit offender.

I have a thought, that maybe I can present myself to him as someone who really admires those actions and the rifles he has produced (which is 100% true) and wants to try and explain the possible consequences of avoiding customers, and continually postponing delivery dates, etc. I would like very much to see him get caught up and keep building these actions/rifles. It is sad in actuality...

I'm all for filing suits/involving the postmaster about mail fraud, etc -- it's just calling for the jackasses in jackboots that bothers me...

OTH, if the the possibility of facing mail fraud charges, and litigation won't move you, I suppose death, asset seizure, and destruction of everything you own might... (I certainly wouldn't want them called on me...)

I think that that the BATFE would not touch this, as it seems, as far as I can gather from all the posts, that he did not violate any firearms laws. All the complaints seem to center around money for deposits, which the BATFE has no interest in.
The USPS should if any money were sent by mail, and so should the banks involved.

If I may make a suggestion, regarding the letters that were sent by your attorneys;

Vendors that he buys supplies, tools and materials from might feel uncomfortable selling him products on other than a cash only basis if they know that he is being sued on multiple fronts.

I really don't think the ATF would mess with this, as it is a fraudulant transaction problem.

How does jurisdiction work in today's business world? If he emails to clients and prospects in different states, can he really be hit with charges in those states? If so, then he has committed fraud in a lot of states.

Seems it's always "money up front".

Have any of these offers ever gone well, worked out as advertised, deliveries made in a reasonable (corrected for the gun biz) time?

Secondary to the issue at hand, how many gunsmiths have just fallen off the face of the earth after accepting a fair amount of work through this and other forums and not delivered?

Trust me, I'd give my eye teeth for a beautiful new '98 Mauser/M70 clone, I understand fully the allure of owning such.

The Montana Rifle Co did this with their 1999 model. I got in on the "Charter offer" for a left handed action, the initial estimate for delivery was 9-12 months after the minimum order level was reached (300 actions, I think). I think that I received mine around 15-18 months after I put down my money.

But the sales people gave us constant updates on a number of internet boards telling us what problems crept up and the progress of the work.

As a means of making up for the delays, the MRC gave us letters allowing us to buy up to 5 more actions at the original charter price after they got up to full production.

I think that the company has changed hands now so I don't think that the new owner's would honor that but I haven't asked.
