The Tyrant Lizard King

Just finished this little puppy. GMA action, 24" octagon barrel, bench-made sights, color-cased by Turnbull Restorations, 11-1/2 lbs.

Holy crap! A Tyrannosaur that doesn’t look like a 2x4!!

Very nice. Does it come with a spare set of retinas in the grip cap?

Beautiful gun!

I can’t see a practical application, but I’m glad they are out there!

11 1/2 lbs is fine.

My .585 HE is 10 lbs 8.4 oz and it is not bad to shoot.

Thank you for info. It is really exceptionally nice rifle. All other .577 Tyrannosaurs I have ever seen are ugly.

Not my style, but definitely stylish, and definitely well made, and also definitely not my money! Big Grin

Looks nice but I never understood this fashion of light rifles. If a double was 13lbs, a bolt action can be too.

Very, very nice, Wayne! What type of wood is the fore end tip?

The fore end tip is Macassar Ebony.

My Hubel with synthetic stock is even lighter. I can shoot it 3 times in the row, no problem. Why not more? Because it becames too hot to hold (when holding at fore end, I am touching barrel with fingers - necessary for perfect torque control). And it is obviously easier to carry.

The customer provided the blank. He has been collecting blanks for 30 years. I was pleasantly surprised!

Is the ebony Macassar or Madagascar? Latter seems where the most good ebony comes from, I think a lot is protected now.

Just looked it up, and ebony does come from Sulawesi. Different from Madagascan ebony.

Matchless materials and execution add up to one magnificent rifle. Well done! Cool
