RandyBRun your question through the cast bullet forum. The answer is there!
www.neihandtools.comThis one is not an FN, but it will be as soon as it bumps into something substantial at speed:
.774"/1080-grain is pretty nice for off-the-shelf.
OOPS!
Brooks iron-block moulds only go up to 0.750" diameter boolits.
NEI aluminum block mould FN design of your own?

Michael RobinsonFederal loads a 1 3/4 oz. (766 grains) hollow point slug in 10 ga. 3 1/2 in. Mag. Not sure who makes their slugs.

Yep, it is a Foster-type slug with a shallow hollow on the nose.

GrandpasezIf you have a smooth bore ten like mine you'll
need a hollowbase slug like the ones Fed loads.
There are molds for that, that makes slugs about
900gr. I have big bunch slugs that way I got off
of internet, but don't know what mold was used.
They work in my ten and with the base hollow,
I bump them up to fit tight in the .795" ID
wadcup for my 8ga in the falling block.Ed

argoleeIf the Darwin slug was made in 10 ga what would the weight be and at what velosity could it be driven with black powder

Argolee,
If you just scaled up a .729" diameter Darwin that is 1.375" long, and of weight 1471 grains in pure lead?
First can anyone agree on the 10 gauge rifle slug diameter?
IIRC the .775 Express Rigby double rifle used a .775" groove, and supposed to be a 10-bore rifle.
Let's just use .775-caliber:
Scale up the Darwin to .775" diameter and 1.462" length and you get about 1766-grain weight.
Keep the length down to 1.375" and you get about 1662-grain weight.
That is just an approximation.
My Darwin slugs were just for fun.
1400 fps in a 3.5" plastic case and 1800 fps in a 3.85" 12GaFH brass RMC case was about all I could stand.
