That's what I call great writing! I read it non-stop quickly, then went back to savor a few choice paragraphs. Can't wait for chapter 2. Thanks, Saeed.

Gentlemen,

Glad you have enjoyed that chapter.
I have actually scanned 2 more chapters, and had the scanner running when I had to leave the room to see someone.

When I got back Walter was using the computer, after he turned the scanner software off without saving anything!

I will scan them again tomorrow.

Thanks for sharing these. I printed them and will save them with our collection of hunting books after sharing them with my son. He and I are 10 days from our first trip to Africa. He is hunting for leopard, sitatunga, and plains game and I for plains game. If we are fortunate, we will find some of the magic that the early hunters revealed in their writings.

Again, thank you and thanks for making AR available to all.

Saeed,

Thanks for sharing.

Hurrah for us old warriors ! ! !

In chapter 5 Jordan is helping the Mongorrori stalk and kill a man eating lion. Who of the Mongorrori was the 1st to jump into the frey? - THE OLD WARRIOR.

Passage from the book on the old man:

"He had scars all over his body from spear thrusts and claw gashes...He shortened his spear, lifted his shield and trotted calmly toward the bush"

Action/adventure films aren't squat compared to this writing.

Saeed, excellent choice!

This fellow Jordan has a way with words and can certainly tell a tale.

Many thanks for taking the time to do this.

I have been keeping late nights reading this book, chapter by chapter.

I have never heard of John Alfred Jordan before this, or at least do not remember having heard of him.

What a life he lived!

Saeed:

I was so impressed with John Prebble's craft that I looked for more of his work.

Among other books, he wrote "Slaughter In The Sun," which became the classic 1964 film "Zulu" depicting the Battle of Rorke's Drift in South Africa. (He also co-authored the screen play.)

His "Mangoso, Man Who Is Always Moving," which you reprinted, was originally published in 1956 as "Elephants and Ivory, True Tales of Hunting and Adventure."

Thought you'd like to know.

Thanks for introducing me to a great craftsman.

Excellent! I think I've been infected with the Africa bug. Who knows what it'll be like by the time I can afford a trip?

I told my son we'd go on a safari when he graduates college in roughly 15 years. I'm saving for college, better start saving for Africa too.

Thanks Saeed.
