Was that 43k chamber pressure in a 12 ga?
Did you use one of these in your 12gaFH testing?
Is the barrel just threaded into the action?
I think I need to get one now or two. I wonder if they make them in 20 ga? All I've seen on Gunbroker is 12ga.

tks.

LAR- I think only comes in 12ga
and 70-150. 43k test was 12ga. Yes we tested
one with 600gr Dixie slugs at 1600+ fps.
Barrel at 20 inches is to short for
the best powder burn with our hairy loads.
And gun was too light. So a heavy
long barrel is needed for big slug loads,
and barrel is threaded with enough threads
But I have big, long one coming and
will get velocities like my NEF.Ed.

That sounds great.
Have you done any testing with a regular smooth bore and rifled choke tube?
Do you think the Norinco barrel could have a choke tube installed? How thick is the barrel at the muzzle?
Are they just cylinder bore? Or have a choke?

I've been reading abunch of your posts at the Cast Boolits site.
Too much fun.
I have a Shaw 12 bore rifled blank and picked up a Savage take off barrel-wonder if it was one of yours?- on Gunbroker.
I've picked up a few of the old Hopkins and Allen single shot falling block actions and shotguns(a couple of take downs also). I would never load to high pressures in them, but they should make a nice heavy slug gun. I have 2 nice complete guns in 12 and 16 gauge. The 12 ga needed a couple of new parts built, but it shoots great now. I'll leave them as smooth bores.

Lar-Barrel is a smoothbore.Measures .729 so it is straight out.Muzzle is .870, my original
rifled barrel on Savage was .920. The big
barrel coming will be rifled. I'm not
an expert on chokes so I don't know if one
can be installed. Be nice if a 6 inch rifled
choke tube could be added, for velocity and
weight.I used Savage barrel I had, here.Ed
