Can anyone explain how with a thermal scope you can see the reflection of an animal in a pond between you and it but it doesn't work through a glass window.

Thermal sees true Infrared light, not nearInfrared like night vision does. Glass does NOT allow the passing of Infrared light. The front lens of a thermal scope is Germanium, or Vanadian Oxide, which does freely pass the light waves. A mirror only reflects the infrared light bacc to the scope. Hope this helps.
