I have a couple of 11.7x51R Danish Remingtons--HL headstamp and the 'star' (which means they were arsenal reloaded at least once).

I also have an 11.7x58R that appears identical (including the 'HL' and 'star') except it is longer.
Donnelly's book indicates that the 56 mm case is the longest of these Danish Remingtons. Can anyone tell me about the 58 mm case??

If you want the LOOOOONG story then please write!
Short story: when the rifles were converted from BP and lead, to nitro and jacketed, the chambers were cut long(er).
Your case is a midwar panic. Up to WWII the Danes amongst others were stocking arms and ammo. When 51mm cases ran short, they converted 8x58RD cases to accpet the old boolit.
So the wast majority of the old rifles could utilize the longer case, but wasen't loaded harder (they used a filler).
