Silhouette Decoys for Geese
Is there a place for silhouette decoys today , it seems shell and full body type are more popular today than before?

Thanks in advance

We hunted with guides in WY recently that were using them in heavy winds. They said they blew away less often than shells and full size.

No question they had more confidence in the full size when the wind wasn't as bad.

It makes sense that they are not badly affected by wind..Im going to add a few to my spread next time, they certainly dont take up alot of space and I have a Jig Saw that hasnt worked in ages!

I still use reel geese silhouettes on my setups and probably put out 2-3 dozen. Light weight and easy to carry.

"Wind Socks" are far more effective that most decoys when you have a little wind. They are much cheaper than silhouette's, especially if you buy 10 doz. You can get headless Canada's or Blue Geese that should fool Egyptian's, Spurwings and ducks. If you wanted to paint your own patterns, get the plain white Snow goose bundle. Cheapest you can buy and instead of paint, use dye's. Dye will saturate the tyvek material and won't peel or flake off.

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

Thank you for the great info! Certainly the windsocks will add that very important movement necessary to catch their attention and bring them in. I like that idea !
