The barreled action is stainless steel. Having gone through a Ferratic Nitrite process makes the stainless a beautiful blue black color. With a 70R hardness I gain an appreciable amount of velocity using the same loads as before the treatment. The military has tested this process in many ways and found that barrel life is extended considerably. Five hundreds hours of salt spray and the treatment on Chrome Moly barrels showed NO signs of corrosion.
