Bipod on hunting pistol

I've been running an SSP91 in 30-30

Great little pistol, very accurate with 125 Nosler BT @2550fps
Thought I'd see how it goes with a harris 6-9 bipod, and I'm finding it difficult to get the same accuracy.

Do any of y'all use a bipod on your hunting pistol?
I'd like to hear any suggestions on getting consistent and accurate results.

I have used bipods on my contenders I wondering how the bi pod attaches and if you might be putting some type of stress on the barrel from the stock.

I have seen it happen with rifle fore ends.

PDS there is a barrel band involved.
I'm looking at setting up a bipod mount which will be cantilevered off the stock.

In my experience attaching a bi pod to the barrel can chance things.

I used bipods for a year. Found that they gave "whip" to the barrels of my handguns and all shot high. I sight in and shoot while hunting off a backpack filled with light stuffed pillows. No change in sight in. Has worked for 38 years in western US, Alaska, and Africa. Have shot deer to 718 yds. off my pack. It works!
