Local machinist union wins major victory as Airplane maker tires of losing 100 million per day in deferred revenue.

quote:
"This contract gives the workers at Boeing an opportunity to share in the extraordinary success this company has achieved over the past several years," Mark Blondin, the union's aerospace coordinator and chief negotiator, said in a union news release.

"It also recognizes the need to act with foresight to protect the next generation of aerospace jobs. These members helped make Boeing the company it is today, and they have every right to be a part of its future," he said.

The union has said the contract protects more than 5,000 factory jobs, prevents the outsourcing of certain positions and preserves health care benefits. It also promises pay increases over four years rather than three, as outlined in earlier offers.

Members lost about $7K each in the 8 week strike.

How long will it take them under the new contract to break even?

REPENT v. To sorrow or be pained for sin, as a violation of God's holy law, a dishonor to His character and government, and the foulest ingratitude to a Being of infinite benevolence.

Many employees set up a strike fun for themselves. Boeing often requires a lot of overtime when they get behind. Smart operators put this extra money in the fund. If there is no strike or money is left over, they buy trucks, cars, boats, etc with it. In this case the big losers are the local toy sellers, who will not see this ready market.

Oh, well.

Many unions or locals, build up strike funds, some can carry the locals members for as long as six months. It all depends on the union and local. Boils down to management by the local.
