"This represents a fundamental change in the ability of the pirates to be able to attack large vessels off the coast," Christensen said. "This attack is obviously so different because of the size of the the vessel, three times the size of a US aircraft carrier . I dont have specifics as to what is happening now. The vessel itself is going to remain under pirates' control."

Are these seizers by boarding parties; mutinous crew members; Both?

We never get to the point of learning the mechanics of these takeovers????

Looks like a good business opportunity for BLACKWATER

REPENT v. To sorrow or be pained for sin, as a violation of God's holy law, a dishonor to His character and government, and the foulest ingratitude to a Being of infinite benevolence.

SOMALI PIRATES SEIZE SAUDI SUPERTANKER

I suspect the Saudi government is capable of handling this......where's the swordsmen?

The mechanics are: Coming alongside or astern of a ship at night. Throw grappling hooks and climb aboard undeteected. Obviously, a loaded ship has less freeboard which makes for a far shorter throw and climb.

The Malacca Straight in Indonisia is the most notorius pirate area in the world.

What makes this most notable is that they were 200 miles offshore.

When enough of them are shot on sight and their palaces are blown up while they sleep - it will end.

Send those pirates some Obama diplomacy.
He will read the teleprompters until they give the super tanker back and join ACORN.

Don't get W involved.
He might kill those pirates.

I had been told a while back that these tankers had sub escorts so this sort of thing wouldn't happen. I guess that was just bs. But, with the amount of oil these things carry, it would seem they should have some sort of escort if not for their value then for what could happen in an environmental disaster.
