Industrial cotton was around urban centers for ease of transportation, the same map could be done marking higher percentage counties of welfare recipients...and, I think would be more apropo.

Had Barack run for president in 1860, and computers had been available for mapping voting results, and then plot the number of fires that would have spontaniously erupted during the campaign, I would predict that they would also match the same patterns as, districts that voted for Obama in 2008, cotton producing districts in 1860, and spontanious combustion during the 1860's.
But then, of course, the fires would not have been to discourage black voters, because there were no black voters in the 1860's.

If you get a map of hand gun violence and compare it to population density, the violence is not constant, but concentrated in certain neighborhoods.
That brown tint in WA state is not King county around Seattle, but Pierce county around Tacoma. My cousin did missionary work there, and the downtown hilltop neighborhood sounds like a shooting range. I think the inner city youths must be target practicing in the alley. If it were fights, they would all soon be dead.
