I wanted to drop you a quick email in regards to our workshop this Saturday, November 22, 2008 at the Atlantis Casino in Reno.

Over the last month I had a few listeners call me with a rumor they had been hearing. I did my own research and quickly became alarmed that it was not a rumor, but a serious proposal being considered by Congress. What was the proposal? The government is reviewing a plan which would enable them to literally confiscate YOUR IRA and 401(k), sell off your stock market investments and place the proceeds into a government controlled account called a GRA (Government Retirement Account) which would pay you up to 3% interest.

This account would be managed by the Social Security Administration, not you. In addition, you could only contribute 5% of your income, of which 2.5% would be an employer funded contribution and the other 2.5% would come from you. To add insult to injury, the majority of the contribution would be after tax, not pre-tax as we enjoy now.

These points are just the tip of the iceberg. My personal feeling is if this proposal gets accepted by the new administration, it could be devastating to the stock market and our already fragile economy. I decided that as investors, we must "band together" and fight this as one. If not, none of us may have any sort of retirement. This is the reason I am passionate about sharing the details of this program with you at our workshop, so that you and your family can be prepared if this proposal becomes a reality.
