I imagine Justice Barrett has a pretty good handle on it. Justice Thomas is swearing her in tonight.

Not blathering. CELEBRATING!
We don't need to apply a constitutional analysis; we have ACB and an originalist SCOTUS for that.

Not commenting on the judge herself, I'm sure she's very good at what she does.
But it just baffles me how republicans en masse forgot their own arguments of not installing a new supreme court judge in an election year. Treat others like you want to be treated yourself?
Don't you think this will backfire one way or the other in the future? How can trust people from the other party to make deals with you if you know they're going to turn 180 degrees on you as soon as they can? That does not bode well for the future of America.

Peter, if Democrats would have had the votes to follow the law and either made their confirmation or block this one, they would have.
The Republicans had the votes to follow the law, block that confirmation and seat this one.
No laws were broken right?

The liberals have had it their way and said, " tuff luck!"

The conservatives have had it their way before and said, " tuff luck!"

Tomorrow is a new day and "trusting the other side" was never an issue.

Just my opinion here but what I think this decision came down to is the Republican's projected ability to keep the Presidency/Senate. Knowing that their ability to hold these branches was in peril, they made a calculated decision to hold a majority in the Judiciary. At least this way they could hold, albeit a slight one, a check on a Democratic majority.

"though the will of the majority is in all cases to prevail, that will to be rightful must be reasonable; that the minority possess their equal rights, which equal law must protect, and to violate would be oppression."

I wish I had a dollar for every time a politician reversed their position. The dims would have done exactly the same thing under the same circumstances so why is anyone bitching or surprised the GOP did it?

The mock outrage and hyperventilation by the left over all this is nothing short of hilarious.

Bottom line, Justice Barret is a huge win for this country and the preservation of the US Constitution as the basis for our laws.

A great day for the Constitution. The left has been exposed for hatred of a good woman while showing themselves to be bigots. The left wants the judiciary’s be a branch of govt making laws because the left in the house and senate cannot get their wills passed on the American people. What is wrong with interpreting the laws the legislature makes?!?!? Oh, the horror!!!!

That, and if a 5-4 majority wasn't enough to inspire confidence in the constituency, a 6-3 majority may not be much better.

A 6-3 majority will only exist on those rare occasions where Justice Roberts realizes that he is a Supreme Court Justice, rather than a US Senator.

Roberts is NO conservative...more like Justice Kenedy—swing vote.

We do now have a 5-4 conservative court...however, Gorsuch and Kavanaugh may occasionally surprise you. ACB was my pick from the get go.

Let's turn it around. What would the Republicans have if the democrats would have hold off a nominations in 2016, and had pushed this one through? What would the chance be that they would have increased the number of judges as soon as they would hold the Senate and have a president?

Court stacking is a liberal wet dream and not a GOP concept. Further, if either party attempts it, they will be committing political suicide. That's not to say it won't happen.

Whichever party monkeys with the 9 seats or a revolving Justice plan will pay a heavy price. The majority of Americans are against it.
