there you go again, six - the election is over - the hyperbole should be, too.

if i can give obama a a chance and some slack, there's nor eason why you can't do the same for palin.

Tas, aren't we talking about the 2012 elections?

I was just talking to a republican friend of mine who I admire. She said that saying Plain isn't smart is incorrect, she isn't savvy. I have to agree.

peggy rushed to judgement - how many days after the VP announcement did she say that?

palin scared the hell out of the democrats, just like clinton scared the hell out of the republicans. both went on the warpath against those candidates, and everyone suffered for it.

buy into it if you want, we'll just have to disagree - i'll still buy you a beer if you are ever up this way ~ beer

Thanks, but apparently not well said; I misspelled vice versa.

Fox has a real problem. In popular culture, they are 'conservative', and conservatives are 'bad'. Republicans are bigots, right?

I read that Murdoch's daughter backed Obama.

I think Fox tried so desperately hard to be 'fair' that though they equaled air time between the two ideologies, they did not go in-depth enough into the background or issues. That they were better than their peers means we're in real trouble. Raising taxes on industry during a recession, (Yes, I know it must be two consecutive quarters of zero or negative growth) is a bad idea, and a news media intent to the point of derangement in being 'fair' is going to give that idea equal shift to selling signed pictures of Obama as a way out of the mortgage crisis. Ideas are not equal, and an objective news source has an obligation to go into at least as much information as neccesary to make the merits clear to the viewer. But we've slogans instead.

btw;
The only political forums with more open hatred and spite than this one were on the old About.com network. I'm amazed. Open the tab and there it is- anger and vindictiveness, just as obvious as urine in a biker bar.

I never would have guessed if I'd stayed with the gun forums. It's like a cancer. Has it always been like this?

six - the fact that she isn't "savvy" is what makes her, in my mind, good for the job.

for perusal by all, one opinion:

Blamin’ Palin? What Are They Thinking?

By Andrea Tantaros

The general rule among returning Las Vegas vacationers is “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.” The same is true for professional political staffers returning from life on the campaign trail. Sure you re-hash certain particularly amusing or dramatic anecdotes with friends over a few beers, but you don’t purposefully blab to the national media in an effort to sandbag your candidate.

Not surprisingly, the McCain campaign doesn’t want to abide by the unspoken, but widely understood, rules of political protocol.

Certain campaign “insiders” are, and have been, engaged in an effort to throw Governor Sarah Palin under the bus for –- in their estimation — bringing the McCain ticket down. These Benedict Arnolds have leaked everything from alleged Palin “tantrums” to rumored “shopping sprees” and a seemingly exaggerated tall tale that tries to paint Palin as inappropriate for opening the door to her hotel room one morning in a towel. In my estimation the only thing that smacks of inappropriateness is the behavior of these staffers.

The fact that FOX News’ Carl Cameron ticked off a litany of these accusations, in addition to a specific list of subject areas where the offended felt Palin was less than knowledgeable, reveals their classless effort to undermine her in order to conceal their own shortcomings.

The real narrative is the long list of subject areas where they failed this campaign. We can now add loyalty and professionalism to the growing tally. This is why they didn’t deserve to win. I lost respect for many of McCain’s aides during this election cycle. Now I’m left with none.

Not only should this indiscretion give anyone thinking of hiring these now unemployed staffers extreme pause but it should also showcase why these “insiders” don’t deserve to work in politics again. Not even races for neighborhood dogcatcher, because in politics you protect your boss–win or lose.

The good news is that when Republicans think of the future of the GOP we think of Sarah Palin, not her disgruntled staff.

Governor, when you’re ready to hit the trail again, give me a call.

Exactly what we need? Do we need someone who thinks biology and religion should be taught in the same classroom? I'll give you one - put "Intelligent Design" ("creationism" by any other name) in the classroom, then watch the other religions ask for equal time and get it.

Our average students are so far behind the developed world's schools now that our jobs are being exported, and you want to put our kids feet in a sack for the next 20 years' development race? Teach creationism in Sunday school and I'll line up a the barriers with you to defend your right to do it. Try to put it in the classroom and I'll fight it as both stupid and unpatriotic. I'll vote against anyone or any party that's unpatriotic, or stupid, or corrupt.

A post election interview with an McCain official, stated Palin was chosen not cause she was the best VP option, but cause she was the female in the Rep. camp that McCain had the least personal conflict with.
Gen.G.Patreus will be the 2012 Rep.candidate for prez.

Probably not, he said last month he wanted to negotiate with the Taliban. The right wing nut jobs of the Repugs will never forget that.

Tas,
You have a point, in politics, its often one has more & bigger enemies in ones own party, than the opposing party...Despite all the surface nicities, in the mad scramble to the top of the powermongering shitpile, it really is a case of every man or woman for himself.
In any case, It was not just a scant tv report, it was a TV panel interview with a Rep. Official,(whos name I dont remeber),that explained why Palin was chosen,ie; Palin was chosen not because she was the best VP option, but because she was the only female in the Rep. camp that McCaine could get along with to a reasonable degree.

None of what you just wrote bears anything to the fact that Fox News has declared war on Palin.

Can't address the issue John?

Don

Reporting facts on Palin's competence or incompetence which Fox was not permitted to report until after the election (because they were "off the record" does not constitute Fox "declaring war" on Palin. It merely constitutes them reporting the news. Your caricature Don is just that.

McCain campaign told her to buy "three suits" and to have her hair done.

Evidently the Nieman Marcus etc. bill went well past the $150K cited. She shopped for the kids and the "first dude." Staffers insist that she charged nothing to the campaign staff credit cards -- "and all the card charges were reimbursed."

This will all come out in the campaign audits.

She went "rogue" early -- refused to be prepped by staff for the Couric interview.

John has a reputation for fucking up organizations -- even the ones working on his behalf. This dates back to Anapolis and earlier.

John & Sarah weren't talking to each other in the final weeks.

-- We made the right choice in keeping both of them away from the Oval Office.

(I just bought another AK underfolder, AR, high cap mags for the XD.)

the harder they attacke her, the more it reveals their fear of her.
