The guys in MT have filled their deer and antelope tags, but before coming home to Seattle, got this joke in a bar in Glasgow:
What do Abraham Lincoln, John Kennedy, and Barrack Obama have in common? Nothing, yet. -------------------------------- FREE 500 |

That illegitimate coggsugger will never be my President. He's a Marxist, a gun-grabber and a baby-killer. Fugg him. Fugg him a thousand times over and again... ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ My little guy up there is laughing at those of you on my Ignore list. This logo substituted for an unflattering picture of Ooga-booga because photobucket deleted what was here. Let it be known that photobucket is a kiss-ass outfit for the Marxist in Chief. |

That is a very 'English' joke.
See, we are all a lot closer in hearts and minds than many think. You will also hear similar jokes in France, Germany, Italy, Russia......... |

That cartoon is false to the actual Lincoln who, although he opposed slavery and freed the slaves (but only in the rebelling states) in the Emancipation Proclamation, did not believe in equality of the races or in having black people occupy positions of power in the U.S. In fact, he thought that the blacks should be sent back to Africa, or that some other form of racial segregation should be implemented, such as setting up some territory just for blacks and having all the blacks sent there. I'm not saying that I agree with him on any of that; I'm just attempting to set the record straight about what our greatest president thought on this question. Lloyd Eby |

It is clear that at some point in his life Lincoln believed those things or something reasonably close to them. It is far from clear that he still held such beliefs at the end of his moral, intellectual, and political development. |
