MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University rifle coach Jon Hammond announced today that Sarah Osborn will join the four-time reigning NCAA champion rifle team in 2017-18.

A native of Hampton, Virginia, Osborn is a seven-time USA Shooting Junior Olympics qualifier and a two-time 3 Positions Air Rifle National Championships Gold medalist for the Civilian Marksmanship Program and for USA Shooting.

“We’re really excited to add Sarah to the WVU rifle program,” Hammond said. “She has shot at the national level for many years. We’ve followed her career for a bit now, but we really got to know her better when she attended open matches and rifle camps at WVU. Sarah is not only a talented shooter, but she’s also very motivated and a hard worker. She places a lot of value in academic success, too. Sarah is a great fit for this program.”

Osborn has years of international experience to her name. In 2015, she competed at the Bavarian Air Gun Championship, as well as the ISSF Changwon and Munich World Cups. She was the youngest female air rifle athlete to shoot at the Changwon World Cup. Osborn also shot for the United States at the 2015 Pan-American Games in Toronto.

A member of the USA Shooting Junior National Team, Osborn claimed Silver at the 2014 Winter Air Gun Championship and finished third in the junior division, earning her consideration for a roster spot for the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics. Additionally, she is the four-time reigning USA Shooting Virginia smallbore champion and won the 2016 air rifle title.

The daughter of Michelle and Stephan Osborn, she currently attends Summit Christian Academy.
