I immediately thought of the Texans in the Houston-Galveston area. I lived in Friendswood in the early 70s. Twice floods put water 8' up in houses within 200 yards of mine.

I was amazed to see that the elevation of my own home was 5' above sea level and I was 35 miles from the coast. I much prefer the 630' cushion I have now.

I'm at 1160 ASL here on the Travis/ Williamson county line. I have a friend in the topo dept. at U.T. that got me my maps. We always had the standing joke that if we were flooded, Houston REALLY has a problem. Wink
