I saw a guy replace some of the under carriage doing just that.

He complained when he did not pass inspection.

Many years ago I went on to the job to measure a chimney flashing + the hole in the roof hadn't been cut yet. This young yahoo on the "carpenters" crew was up there with a shingle ax + ( had no concept of pitch or angles) + made the comment, "How much slaunch you want on this, Boss? HeHe"
