My wife and I just recovered from a pitiful two-day bout with omicron. Had original Covid last January. It came on like the beginnings of a cold with, scratchy throat, burning sinuses, sneezing, malaise. Got tested, then, after 48 hrs, it was gone. I guess our immune systems took care of it.

I have heard rumors of a "herd immunity" going around due to constant contact. My grandson had covid when we all got together over Christmas + didn't know it. No one else came down with it but I asked my son what variety he had + he just said, "The weak ass kind".

I try to stay away from groups and only go to the store for food. Myself and my wife are in the class that could catch anything because of our age over 85. My father told me my GG grand pa and GG grand ma both died in 1920 from the Spanish Flu several yrs. ago.

My next-door friend was the strongest man in the RV Park and 63 yrs. old took a trip to Colorado in Sept. and felt bad when he returned to Texas. He called his daughter, and the next day took him to the hospital. No one in the park had heard from anyone, so they called his workplace 5 days later and they told us he had died that day. Covid. 19

Wise behavior, My Mom at 74 rarely goes out. She had a by pass surgery with a 8 percent fatality risk. Why take that risk (by pass) and then be stupid with Covid that would seriously harm her. She is triple vaccinated.

Covid has killed plenty of people who thought it would not impact them.

Very true.

But I suspect it only pushed them over the edge.

It was not the cause of it.

For sure some of that, pre existing, but I had two cousins that are dead, with no pre existing conditions, age 65 and 66.

Age greater than 65 is a risk factor regardless of health status. But it is a fact that 94% of those who died with a covid exposure had 2.6 or greater comorbidities. 75% had four or more comorbidities.

I personally don't care if someone wants to be cautious and spend the rest of their life hermetically sealed in their home. Joyce and I will not.

One of Joyce's sisters is over 60 with endless comorbidities, developed covid a month ago, and rode it out at home with no issues.

Another of her Sisters is over 70 with multiple comorbidities and ended up paralyzed from the nipple line down less than a week after her first Pfizer vaccine dose. Call it rare all you want. If it's you, it's not rare. She will now die in that wheelchair.

Joyce and I are vaccinated, we will not get boosted, we are done with this mess and if we die we die.

What we don't agree with or approve of is the mandates that are causing people to lose their livelihoods and in some places the ability to go out to a restaurant or entertainment. That makes zero sense considering the vaccines do NOT prevent you from getting Covid, though they may help with your outcome.

Cheers
J&J

I am 70. Had the original Covid a year ago November (November 2020). I then had both Moderna vaccines and the Moderna booster as well (Triple vaccinated). In spite of all of this, and being cautious, I caught Omicron at Christmas time. Go figure.

But I assume the vaccine made the second round of Covid much less severe.

My son's family went to Mexico over Christmas, all double vaccinated, tested negative leaving and in Mexico, prior to returning. Son was selected for random testing at the airport in Canada, tested positive and he and his wife both had it. There's a lot of BS being fed to the sheep and it ain't stopping.

Grand-daughter has Covid. Just feels "crummy" so far. She was fully vaccinated. I think we will all have Covid, probably multiple times. Just need to take all precautions you think are necessary.

I think the un-vaccinated, being the vector for most infections, and the more serious reactions, is what prevents a full economic recovery in this country. How can we get by this when a large part of the population is happy being super-spreaders.

Indeed! My son has the 2 grandkids tomorrow because school has been shut down due to covid + since his wife is at work, he gets to babysit instead of being at work where he needs to be. His work is more flexible than hers but that still does not pay the bills.

I'm still not sure if I have had covid. I had something in late Sept-Oct in '20 that I could not pinpoint. Does not seem to matter at this point if you have had it or are vaxxed, you can still get it. You can still spread it.

People who have large busy families under one roof and those who commute for work and are around a lot of people will always have major risk of getting covid. Just is. Lots of people defiantly traveling around the world for vaca's and they are also a major vector of the spread. Just isn't going to change so get used to it.

Kensco, you like to do a lot of blaming but at this point most people are vaxxed and they are spreading disease more than the unvaxxed. There's simply more of them at this point. Truth right there.

I have a very large circle of friends since I have been active in several organizations over my lifetime. Most of them are vaxxed and they have ALL gotten sick. Some have been very, very sick too. One person I know is probably going to lose both of his feet due to blood clots. He got covid even though vaxxed. He is in the hospital right now.

My 80 YO mother is unvaxxed. She has MS and cannot take that shot. Myself and several neighbors have not vaxxed. We are ranchers and don't go about traveling and commuting to jobs. Kids grown and gone. We don't visit stores and businesses every day like city people do.

We are all fine.

MS, in itself, does not preclude the possibility of getting the vaccine. We have a friend with MS, a young mother (about your age) of two, her doctors recommended she get the vaccine and booster, which she did. Perhaps your mother, due to the progression of the disease or other health factors caused her doctors to make that call. If that's the case, I wish her the best.

I have another friend, again a woman, about my age, who is un-vaccinated. She claims she is allergic to vaccines. (I question whether that is even a thing.) Rather than listen to her doctors she gets her medical advice from Tucker Carlson on FOX, and probably believes Anthony Fauci is the devil. That person can't be helped.

In your own case, I would say avoid casinos, horse races, and the stock market. I don't believe you play the odds very well.

Medicine is not hard science and never has been. That's why doctors will have different opinions on all sorts of 'standard' procedures and treatments. I don't think that will ever change. With covid we have not only a novel virus which is a bio weapon but also has a novel treatment. Only time will tell what is and isn't the right treatment. I personally have done very well in the last two years and due to what I do for a living there really has not been a lot of change in my daily routine. I hope to continue doing as well. I am well aware how much this has affected the population at large.

My education and life experiences have taught me to be very cautious of both the medical arts and sciences, messing with genetics and trust in government. Just remember, they originally told you the shot was gonna shut covid down. It didn't, it wont and it never will. What they will do is tell you another story so you'll take another shot and keep taking them. Just makes people rich and gives more power to those who never should have had it. Anyway, ranch life has done me well. Smiler

Kensco, may you and yours be happy and healthy. You'll not catch covid from me and I won't catch it from you. No matter the status, covid will make some people sick, some very sick and some will die, shots or not.

I'll patiently wait for your peer reviewed study supporting this statement since we know that the vaccinated contract and spread Covid, many times while being asymptomatic just like the unvaccinated. At this point more people are vaccinated than unvaccinated. Some by choice many by Government coercion.

My wife & I have just now recovered from the omicron. She's 65 and works, I'm 75 and retired.

She caught it at her office, where ignorant or uncaring co-workers either had it and came to work or were exposed and didn't say anything. One woman's young son has/had it and the mom went home on her lunch hour to check on him and came back to work, over a period of several days.

Naturally I caught it, too. Wife's and my symptoms were different, except we both had bad coughs and serious fatigue.

I have to admit I was somewhat worried, as I had quadruple bypass surgery which translates to coronary artery disease, and Type 2 diabetes. Plus I'm fat.

Wife is back to work and I'm leaving the house as little as possible, but life is slowly returning to the "new normal."

I'm hearing now that Covid 19 will never be eradicated, just like the seasonal flu, and future generation will be getting vaccinated for it, the same as for other diseases.

For the record, my wife got two of the Pfizer shots but didn't have the booster before she caught omicron. I had the J&J one-and-done in June and the booster early in December. I suppose we should assume that the vaccines helped keep us out of the hospital?

Why do people say things like this? Most people passing it don't have symptoms or know they have anything, despite having the vaccine and wearing masks and testing, etc.

We were all vaccinated and tried to be responsible and careful, but we did get together for Christmas and everybody got it. Two folks ended up in the emergency room, but everyone's alright. About half had symptoms. And about half didn't, but tested positive. I think the new version is so contagious that I don't see how it's not going to keep running through the population.

Close family friend's daughter home from college was first to show symptoms and blamed herself and took it really hard, but she was triple vax'd, tested regularly, and didn't have symptoms until after we'd all likely picked it up. It's an infectious disease. If you want to find fault, fault the creators or the folks who funded the creation, or the sloppy folks who let it out of the lab. Don't blame the college kids or grocery store workers or medical folks who have to go out into the world and despite all precautions are likely spreading this crap.

Covid still has a 99% survival rate last I knew. What has changed is people have been conditioned to think if you get covid you will automatically end up on a ventilator and die. This is not true at all.

Those shots are an experiment. There is no way to know so soon after development that they do anything at all. If they did then so many people would not be catching covid who have taken these shots. It's pretty clear now that even if you've had all of them you can still very readily get and spread covid.

I know of several people who still got very sick though 'vaxxed' and required hospitalization. The media is not reporting the truth.
