Curious if any confirmed sightings of wolves in UT. If not, once Colorado releases theirs they should show up shortly. Wonder how those large private ranches in UT that have done a great job with wildlife management with their trophy elk, Shiras moose and mule deer will feel when the wolves start taking down these $15K trophy animals these ranches have been protecting the last few decades. | ||

Wolves are nothing more than sport killing, catastrophic monsters to all big game. Look at Idaho. 16,000 elk reduced to 1,000 in a short time span. Sick, weak and injured? That fable is a joke! Ask a sheep rancher why 100 sheep are killed in one night and none eaten. Ask a family where their dog went, their mule lying in field with their hind quarter ripped up and not eaten. I've seen these vermin take and big bull elk and just for the hell of killing. Cows on the birthing fields, ripped open and the fetus tore out for a play thing. Every pin head that brought these monsters into the US should be in prison. Poison, aerial shooting, and year 'round hunting should be their fate. Our forefathers realized you can have live stock or big game when wolves live, especially Grey Wolves. Vermin. There have been several confirmed sightings here in Northern Utah. Ranches up here have list livestock. I truly hope they are either all shot in Utah or, Kalifornia takes them from us. | |||

When we lived in Logan, the rule was if you saw a dog chasing a deer, it was your job to shoot the dog. It was also considered virtuous to shoot magpies, which eat pheasant eggs. Funny that you mention magpies Tom. They are terrible with the birds. Growing up, we had robins and many other birds. Now, mostly magpies. | |||

My one set of grandparents had a big ranch. While growing up in Utah, and when I went up to the ranch, my job was to shoot any magpie that I could find. And, any rats or mice in the granary. | |||

I'm pretty confident I saw a wolf in Sardine Canyon, south of Logan, UT about 10 years ago. And before people ask, I have seen wolves in the wild and it was too lanky to be a domesticated dog. | |||

I saw one about 2 years ago in the middle of the day by a local sheep ranch. I had to take a double-take as I thought I had never seen a coyote that large. Turns out later that I was right as there were several sightings. I have NEVER seen a wolf before here in central Texas. Never mistake motion for action. | |||

I've had friends tell me that they have sighted wolves in northeastern Utah. I have no reason to doubt them. With the introduction of wolves into Colorado, it will be a given that some of those wolves will filter into Utah. | |||

I’m sure your friends are correct and I live in this part of the state. There have been livestock kills (at least one horse)by wolves. As Wyoming has a season (or had), wolves have been killed near Cokeville, which is on 30 minutes from our border | |||
