A guy down by Troy, Montana was out with a friend looking for mushrooms after the forest service burned a hillside. This bull had already died, he found it full skeleton in the middle of the burn. Official score gross non typical is 439, net 422.

Not that it's not a spectacular elk, but there are a lot of photo tricks being played in that photo.

Skull is not on the floor, but appears to be on a table and the guy is standing way back with the antlers angled backward.

A bit like Saeed and Walter's buffalo photo.

AND head & camera up close to distort it.

A rack like that don't need any distortion.

Hell of a dream bull for sure.

With that kind of score, can be in the B&C records. No necessity of having been taken by the person entering. Just say where and when. Probably died of old age.

thumbdown

Agreed! that guy is most likely laughing his butt off about the comments he will be getting from this scam photo! As Todd says, this is an insult to the very good elk that needed no scam picture to be impressive!

I don't understand the skeptics, first of all a rack that large has to heavy that is why the skull is supported on some type of small table, the fellow is supporting the rack by its end point and whoever took the picture surely coached the fellow how to hold to get it in the frame. There will always be a dept perception which make them look bigger but that is one heck of a rack, scoring would need to be certified and quite a few animals are in the book taken by FORD< Chevy Dodge. Any hold I can have a picture of my 90 Lab look like a 1500 LB Black Bear with the proper camera equipment, just appreciate the beauty of that animal

I thought the rack size declines with advanced age?

Hmmm, and you guys can't tell that it's a PSed image??

The guy is not even touching the tines because they were pasted over his hands and even into the kitchen itself.

In the words of that ancient Chinese Philosopher "Sum Ting Wong". That picture has to be fake. The wolves don't allow an elk to get that big in that part of Montana.
