Back in the early 1970 s my cousin had a military split bridge mauser in 8x57. For the life of me i cant remember the model num. but i know it had a turned down bolt handle. He passed away a couple years ago and i,m trying to rember what kind of gun it was. I know it had a flat Mauser type floor plate

The G98/40 s aren't Mausers. The design is Mannlicher based, patterned after the Hungarian 35M.

How about a 1904 Portuguese?

The bottom metal is interchangable with M98.

The M1904/39 was chambered in 8X57IS

The last split bridge Mauser made was the 71/84, a black powder rifle. Everything after that was a Mannlicher design, including the 88 Commission, which was not designed nor built by Mauser, although everyone calls them 88 Mausers. They aren't.
