That gun was up for auction on one of the internet auction sites. I don't know anything about the history. Over the years, I have seen much better sporters produced from Garands. . | |||

IIRC, back in the 1960s, Williams Gunsights published a guide on sporterizing military rifles, including Garands. A couple of years ago, I came across a sporterized FN-49 in 7x57. I bought it because it was too neat to pass on, but I've never shot it. Jeff | |||
