I enjoy looking at sporterized mausers and 1903s - looking for a bargain. I am amazed at what pops up. From the asking price, I thought this might be a nice higher end sporter, perhaps with double triggers and some other custom features.

Not even close. I hope the pawn shop didn't but much into it - they'll never get it back!

Yeah me too! Looks like a K98k in an old Bishop stock with a Tru-Oil finish. $300 tops.

there was a similar one about a year ago that was listed as a unmarked G&H because it looked just like the sellers other g&h rifles, i wasn't aware g&h used bishop stocks, weaver mounts and walmart scopes

Woah! that's a crazy asking price. My swede was similarly sporterized except the stock was a bit darker (American black walnut). I paid $150.

seems a LOT of guys, GB and gunshows, are trying to push the prices up on old sporters. They don't seem to get the idea...

I wish I had $1 for every "jap sniper rifle" I have seen at a gun show. I had no idea the Imperial Japanese Army fielded 1909 Argentines, '95 chileans and every arisaka belonged to a sniper.
Evidently, with all those "snipers" there was a shortage of regular infantry.

And what an interesting camo pattern on the stock too:

In all seriousness though, some full length pictures would have been interesting on this one since the stock was obviously snagged off it for another rifle. I suspect this was once a pretty nice rifle itself.

Sad thing is I went to a show last weekend and found what had been 2 Arisaka snipers. Unfortunately Bubba 1 and Bubba 2 had "improved them somewhere along the way. Totally ruined as collector pieces! Mad
