Mahsburn Arms Co.
Peruvian 1909
6mmRem AI
29 1/2" Barrel

When I bought this rifle online, it was not identified as a Mashburn rifle.
Knew of Mashburn, his rifles and his wildcats. Some quick reading on the internet filled in some holes, but I did not find a rifle similar to this one to compare.

When purchased and not knowing of the Mashburn connection I had the following ideas in mind.

1) Break it down and put the '09 action aside for a different project and sell off the other parts.

2) Replace the bottom metal and trigger. (Not a fan of double set triggers.)

3) Rechamber to .243 Super Rockchucker (have dies and brass) in combination w/ #2.

Now I need to determine if the history/value of the rifle mean it should stay as is.
I feel confident in pricing this rifle if it were NOT a Mashburn.
Feel confident in pricing the rifle is broken down and sold off in parts.

What I don't know is the increase (If any) of value for it being a Mashburn rifle.

Your thoughts?

Pics below are from the auction.
If any additional pics would be helpful, just let me know.

I don't know if Art Mashburn's rifles have added value. When I was a kid in the 60's it was a great treat to go to his retail store in Oklahoma City. It was a thriving business in those days but it has long since closed.

You have described my conundrum.

Mashburn doesn't have the name recognition of Paul Jaeger or similar, but is from the same era doing the same kind of work.

Cabelas in OKC lists a 300 H&H that has been been significantly marked down.

Wasn't Mashburn one of Warren Page's favorite rifle makers?

Yes. A 1969 article by Les Bowman said Warren Page used his 7mm Mashburn Magnum on more of his hunts than all other calibers combined.

7,

Thanks for the response. Bowman as I remember was also the one who pushed Remington to come out with the 7mm Rem mag.

Thank you for the information.
Will leave it assembled. I can always find another Peruvian action.
