Barrel length and twist

What length would be most efficient for this .358 I'm going to build and with what twist. I like short barrels but want the most efficient length without going to 25" or more. I'm guessing around 22" but want you input through experience. I only have a .358 Win Lone Eagle at this point.

For a short action round, I'd go between 20 and 22", and the difference in velocity between those lengths is nil, ok, 50 fps, but that is nil in the real world.

For a twist, I assume you'll be using 225 gr and lighter bullets, so 1-14 is fine, and would be my choice. If you think you might shoot cast bullets, definately go with no faster then 1-14. If you want to try something a bit different, you might want to consider a .357" bore barrel, as Mike 375 has stated several times in reference to the 358 STA, he and some buddies built up several with the slightly smaller bore, and there were extremely insenstive to load variations, ie accurate with most any load or bullet.
