New rifle project?
I'm building a 7mm dakota. here are my questions.
Which barrel maker should I choose? I want a cut rifled barrel No-3 contour 26in longs ss with flutes?
I'm thinking of a McMillan edge stock in Rem mountain hunter.
Predator stiller action.
Timney or shillen trigger?
Remouvable clip?
So what do you guys think, it's my first custom.
Thanks
Elmer

Krieger, or Ron Smith up in Canada. Ron will cut the rifling exactly to your specs.

Sounds like a worthy project.
I persoanly would scrap the removable clip.
I just don't see any use for them on a hunting rifle, and a standard floor plate is nearly imposible to loose...tj3006

Elmer,

Below are a few links that you may find interesting. Kreiger barrels are excellent and so are Lawton, Obermeyer and Bartlein. All are cut rifled and have set several world records in benchrest shooting. You may want to take a look at BAT Machine, they are a great company and they do the best work on the planet. Their actions dominate the long range benchrest scene. With Remington, Nesika and a few other like Stolle taking up the rest of the space.
