Fairly recently acquired a custom 375 Chatfield Taylor. Anyone out there with reload info you'd be willing to share? | ||

Mine is a 375/338 which is the same cartridge. Here are some loads I've used: 235 Speer 67gr IMR4064 225 Hornady 68gr IMR4064 270 Hornady 70gr IMR4350 270 Hornady 68gr IMR4350 For whatever reason more recently for the 270 Hornady I've had to cut back to 65gr H4350 These are what I consider max loads for my rifle, reduce loads and work up for your rifle. | |||

My .375CT is built on a Pre 63 M-70 action, with a 25" Douglas bbl. The following data are for my rifle: All cases are Winchester (.375H&H run thru a sizing die and trimmed to specs.) Federal 215 primers. IMR 4350 and IMR 4064 are the only two powders which I've used. All loads were shot across a chrono set at 15' and corrected back to the muzzle. Bullets were 300gr Swift A-Frame, and 300gr TBSH. 72gr IMR 4350 produced a five shot average of 2550fps with the Swift bullets. Using the same load with the TBSH the average was 2520fps. 63gr IMR 4064 in both the Swift bullets, and the Trophy Bonded bullets resulted in virtually the same velocities. No pressure problems with either powder, and accuracy was about 1 1/2" @ 100yds for five shots. Since I subcribe to "Heavy for caliber" I have no data for lighter bullets. Best, JLS | |||

Thanks tsibindi. The brass I received with the rifle, formed from Winchester W-W Super 338WM cases. I do have a quantity of 300gr bullets and IMR 4350 is one of my more frequently used powders so I have a good supply of that also. Appreciate the info, thank you  . | |||

Going back some years, I recall that IR-4064 and IMR-4320 gave me the highest velocity and accuracy..I'm sure that's been updated since my last go around with the 375 Taylor..It always amazed me that it duplicated my 375 H&H rifles..Great round. Please excuse my confusion. Isn't the .375CT cartridge a .338WM case with the head expanded to accept .375-caliber bullets? I have always dreamed of such a rifle, but have never taken the time to have one built. | |||

I thought the 375 CT (Cheyenne Tactical) was based on the 505 Gibbs Rimless Mag. | |||

Ray, you are correct. However, the 338 win mag parent case is the 375H&H, so resizing and trimming down will also give you Chatfield brass. Mick, you are also correct, but they're talking about the chatfield-taylor, not the cheytac. | |||

The Chatfield Taylors are all on the .338 case, and cases can be made from most any factory belted case. I necked down the .458s and most brass needed inside or outside neck reaming, and necked up the 338s as a rule with no other operation.. I think I still have 100 factory stamped 375 Chatfield-Taylor brass, but may have sold it on AR recently??? I don't recall offhand who it was that manufactured it , but it was excellent brass, and I liked properly stamped brass for over seas travel, although it has never been questioned??
