Do any of you load cor-lokts? I'm trying 30-06
hunting load work up. w/165gr. I can't find any info. Rem. referred me to powder companys. No luck there. Any suggestions for where to look, or actual load data will be really appreciated.
Thank you,
John

If you must use them, try 50grs. RE15, or 56.3grs IMR4350. I usually use Rem. brass and 210M primers, but any good 9 1/2 or WLR primer will work fine, too. FWIW, Ive tried H4350 and that powder isnt quite up to snuff in the accuracy dept. compared to RE15. Hornady SSTs are my choice in the 165grain class. Jay

While I wouldn't reload them (since it may be cheaper to just buy them factory loaded) The 180gr out of my 30-06 were very accurate.

coreloct is a good bullet - if you take a look at Lee's MODERN RELOADING, you will get a plethora of information for loading 165-grain bullets in the .30/06.

+1 on Core-Lokts being good bullets. The 140 gr. 7mm bullets perform beautifully out of my 7 Mag. They hold together at close range, but expand reliably out past 300 yards. Accuracy is good, too.

And I shoot them out of my .270 (130's) and my .243 (100's) and as soon as I run out of some old Herter's 150's that my brother gave me, I'll be shooting them out of my .30-06.

And if it will shoot for you, RL 19 should get you almost 2900 fps with those. 62-62.1 would be max, so start lower and work up.

Probably enough info here to keep you busy for awhile.

I load Core-lokt psp bullets for my 7mm-08 and 308. I use the lyman #48 manual and use the data for psp bullet s of the same weight.

The two deer killed with my 7mm-08 last year couldn't tell they werent barnes or swift bullets, they never took another step.

The Corelokt has been around for so long that they have probably killed more game animals than any other single brand of bullet.

My hunting partner killed a real nice mule deer buck with a 165 grain Factory corlocked bullet. I was very impressed and will probably buy some to reload.
As for data I would just go down about a grain from max with a lode from any manual. (assuming your rifle is a modern bolt or single shot) 6 data is usualy listed a 50000 cup.
While many other modern cartridges like the 270 are drivn to 52 or 53000.
I like IMR-4350 and IMR4064. RL-19 is another good one...tj3006

57grs 4350 + 165gr CoreLokt = Dead Stuff.
Very accurate in my rifle. Core Lokts are one of the first bullets I try with any new, non magnum hunting rifle.

I haven't found them to be quite as accurate as hornady or sierra in general but certainly good enough for most hunting purposes. Like others have said their on game performance is very good. Use any published data for 165 bullets and work up a bit.....you'll be fine......there is nothing "evil" about the bullet that makes it hard to load for.

Corelokts are my go-to ammunition. After using them in 7 Canadian Provinces, 16 States and Mexico to harvest 21 Species of North American game, my experience is that they are accurate and expansion characteristics are excellent. I will be bringing them to Namibia in July for Leopard and Plainsgame. You can't go wrong.

I load Corelokts in 100 grain .243, and 150 & 180 grain .308. I've used these and other weights on deer in factory ammo. Fine bullets, accurate, reliable, and inexpensive. Haven't worked with 165s but being a conventional bullet most anyone's data for that weight ought to serve. Good hunting!

Core-lokts are a great non-premium bullet. They're priced right and accurate to boot. The 165 grainer is a favorite "plinker" bullet that is capable of doing all that one can ask a 30-06 to do. Even my M-1 loves 'em.

I like Remington core locks for deer. They work very good.I think the 180 gr hits a little harder than the 165 gr.The 150 gr tear up too much meat.I have had no deer run with the 180 gr core locks. The worst bullets I used on deer were the 125 gr psp remingtons in 30-06 and 165 gr federal boattails.I had to shoot deer more than once with the 165 gr bullets up close.I once shot two deer right unter the stand with the 165 gr bts I had to shoot them 3 times each in the shoulder neck and head when they wrre fighting. You dont need preium bullets for deer just good bullets that hold together and are accurate. The corelocks do both at once.I like to buy 500 in bulk to reload they use to be $40 for 500 now around $80 .Its a good way to be able to pratice cheap.

I use the 165 Core Lokts in .308 and load them for my buddy in 30-06. I use RL-15 in .308 and BLC-2 (gas gun) or 4350 (bolt gun) in the 30-06.

They are accurate and effective on deer. Oh ... and they are cheap. What more can you want Big Grin

I've taken dozens of animals with the CLs. They are some of the softest bullets I've ever hunted with. I got tired of them not exiting on little whitetails and moved on to better bullets. The best performance I recieved from CLs was from 30-30 win, just the right velocity for the soft CLs.

Good Luck

I have been using them for about 60 plus years..I use the 180 RNCL in my Savage .308 and its marriage made in heaven..I use the 180 SPCL in my 06 along with 180 gr. Noslers..I use the 150 and 170 gr. 30-30 Corelokts almost exclusively in my 94 Win. It was the only good bullet out there for many years, now its still good but there are a lot of bullets now that are as good or better...Our bullet companies have come a long way baby!

I have used them a lot in my 308 and 30-06, the 165 grain corelokts and never had a problem. I especially liked the way they work in the 308 pushed to 2600 fps. Always good expansion and exits.
