I have a Mauser 660 in .243 and it is a switch barrel rifle. But, I have no other barrels. I never see these for sale either.

Does anyone know a company or a smith who can make a replacement barrel for this rifle (in the USA) so I can have a choice?

I was thinking of a 6.5x55 or a 7mm08.

thanks,
Lance

I looked at a drawing, and if this is a scoped gun (I assume it is for switch barrel format, but doesn't have to be), then it looks to me like all you need is a conventional contour barrel with the necessary notch added to accommodate the barrel wrench. Any competent gunsmith with machine shop facilities should be able to do that.

If you want' a specialist, here, in Ohio, there is a gunsmith called The Mauser Man, a name he picked up from specializing in Mauser rifles. He built a switchbarrel .30-'06 /.35 Whelen for a friend on mine on a '98 Mauser action years ago. Worked fine. His real name is Jim Caudill. His phone was 740-965-2185, last time I looked, though area codes in Ohio have changed some since back when that work was done.

You can still find the M66 switch barrels at Gun Shows. I saw four of them at the Wanenmacher Gun Show in Tulsa, OK, last month. They were not cheap, but still far less than having a new set machined.

I wish I could find them around here.

Phoenix area gun shows are 85%-90% military and retail dealers coming in to sell at regular retail prices.

Not worth the $10 to get in and $6 to park These shows tend to suck!!! I quit going.

I never see the on line or gunsamerica/gunbroker either

It's weird.. Butterfields had about 10 complete rifles a few years ago. I was at the Tulsa show, wish I had seen those barrels.
