I haven't got around to handloading for the 270 yet as I keep promising myself I'm going to sell or trade the 270 barrel off my Encore. This year though I'll be testing the Remington 115 gr Managed Recoil load on farm country whitetails.

I use H-4831 with Fed 210ms Getting hard to find those primers though. My load is 60.8 grains under a Hornady 130 grain SST. I would start at about 58 grains.
Lots of people do real well with RL-22.

I don't have a .270 these days, but shot one for a lot of years..I still have "the powder" for the .270 and thats Jack O'Conners old army 4831 surplus powder..62 grs. of it gives me 3200 plus with a 130 gr. Nosler and I also used a lot of the old 130 gr. OPE WW bullet and it killed deer like a lightening strike..

Don't try 62 grs of the new 4831 in your rifle, its too hot..

No, I won't sell any of it, its the last 20 lbs of a 150 lb. stainless steel container boxed in a wood crate...That container is worth a ton of money, but its really handy for a lot of things like horse feed, water, or anything that needs a tight seal.

djpaintles, fantastic results with the 140gr Accubonds.
I am considering swapping to them from the 150gr Partitions as my rifle prefers 140s'. Will I give up much in terminal performance? I will be shooting animals from springbuck (80 lbs) to kudu cows (250 lbs).

Karoo, I would think that the 140gr Accubonds would be perfect for your mentioned applications. I haven't shot deer with them yet but I have shot 2 Elk (600-900lb animals) with them out of a 338 Win Mag and a 300 RUM.
I think you should give them a shot and let us know how they work for you................DJ

I've been using 130 grain Horandy SP with 62 grains H4831 and CCI 200 primers. The brass has either been Federal or Remington. This is max load (3100 fps) according to Hornady so work up to it. I've been seating .020 off the lands and getting sub 1" groups with 3 rounds and I even manage that with 5 from time to time. I'm not showing any signs of pressure but don't feel the need to make them go any faster.
