I bought this Mauser from the Bass Pro Shop in Las Vegas in 2006. I was there to attend my first Shot Show and the Mandalay Bay Gun and Knife show. I saw Tom Seleck and John Milius at the Gun Show . I also met Detrich Apel and joined the German Gun Collectors Club. He had Tom Turpin autographing his new book on David Miller Co.

Rifle Details: Made by Edgar Kiess in March 1941. Marked 341.

Caliber: 7x64mm
Light walnut stock with horn buttplate.
Double set triggers
Regular dropout floorplate
Originally Claw Mounts - No Rings :-)
The 25" Octagon Barrel has a low rib and integral front sight.

Info thanks to Detrich Apel:

Edgar Kiess is a Suhl gunmaker who was in business since 1935 through the end of World War II. He was a small maker who was not well known.

Krupp Mauser 7x64mm
Well here's the (semi) finished piece. The claw mounts are gone, replaced with square bridge Talley mounts, a Spoon style bolt handle and 2 position safety. The bolt was polished.

The rifle liked S&B Hmantle? loads.

Exceptionally nice rifle, love that full rib barrel, I had one very close to that in 8x57 Brno.

Nice rifle, very nice calibre. With Claw mounts, rings are still available from the likes of Recknagle and they are not that hard to fit to existing bases.
