270 Win with 130gr bullets and Re-22
I shoot 130gr bullets out of a stock pre64 m70 and have run out of my current loading. It's time to reload another batch.
I've heard several folks sing the praises of re22 in the 270 win. I've used IMR4350 with good results for several decades and still have plenty on hand but I am not opposed to trying something new. I've played around with everything from 4895 to 4831 and settled on the 4350 with good velocities and accuracy. Not displeased just exploring options.

I also have a pre 64 M70 standard weight and have been working with Rl 17 and 6.5 Staball with good results.

55gr, Staball (Hodgdon's max) excellent accuracy but only 2860 Fps. Now up to 58gr. still good accuracy---not cronyed yet. 130 gr. Horn. SST.

55 gr. R17 130 gr. Sierra excellent accuracy 3195 Fps. (FAST!!!).

Sorry!---Haven't tried RL22 yet---don't have enough to play with.

RL-22 works well with the .270/130gr combo. But be aware that RL-22 (also marketed as Norma MRP) tends to vary somewhat from lot to lot, so buy enough of a single lot to last you for a while so not to have to work your load up again if you change lots.

"4831" is the tried and true powder for the .270 and is what I use from my dwindling supply of original surplus powder. But there have been so many different versions of 4831 that you have to be careful of which you are using. For whatever reason I've had little luck with the current H4831, and IMR 4831 is somewhat faster -- almost like IMR4350. Rather than use any of the current crop of 4831's I prefer IMR7828SSC, with which you can increase the H4831 charge by about 3% for equal velocities.

Bottom line: IMR7828SSC and RL-22 (along with RL-23, 25, $ 26, are all useful choices in the .270.

RE-22 and a 130 Barnes TTSX, and I get 3,200 +/- fps, and excellent accuracy.

I've had the accuracy before, but not the speed. I am well pleased!

I have found RE-22 to be both fast and accurate in .270's and .280's. Having said that, IMR 4350 is usually very good in .270's, but you already know that.

In my 30-06 I started with 4064 and for 50 years heard that 4350 was THE powder. Tried 4350 and in my gun 4064 was much better. Point is, try it in YOUR gun

Been using RL-22 with 130 NP's for decades. Like you +3200 FPS even with a 22" pipe.
Accurate as well.

Re22 was my go-to powder for my .270 until I tried Re23. I get about the same velocities 3170-3200 fps from a 22" bbl. but the accuracy improvement was substantial. I don't know why that should be but it has replaced Re22. You might give it a try.

RL-22, RL-19 is about what you can expect from IMR-4831 and 4350 burn rates, the difference is RL 22 and 19 slip through a measure without the cutting and they are dead accurate thru the measure..I like that..

I have about 50 lbs of the old Milsurp WW 2 4831, the stuff that Jack swore by and it does give me almost 200 fps more velocity and less pressure than any modern powder in a 270 or 30-06 but again powder cutting and weighing each load is a given and I,m not good with that...

60 to 62 grs of that old surplus 4831 is a marriage made in heaven with the 270..The new 4831 will only hold about 58-59 grs. and its real compacted..

Today H414, WW760, RL-19 and 22 are the best choices IMO>..but let your gun determine that.

But if your guns performs as you said, its my opine that if it ain't broke don,t fix it!! shocker

I only shoot 150 Partitions in my 270 for big game, H4831 or Norma MRP do great with it. I used to shoot 130g Partitions and 60g of H4831 was my standard load. Just over 3100 fps from a 22" barrel with good accuracy. Every rifle is different so start lower and work up carefully of course.

Chuck

Ive never seen a .270 that wouldn't perform with H4831 and I used it for years, and recently because of powder shortage I have been using it in my 270 and 30-06..but I prefer RL-22 and RL-19 these days as they slip through a powder measure and are so accurate in my measure that I seldom weigh charges, they fill the case properly and get great velocity..Just my take on the subject has my opine has to do with the process not the powders.
