Any recommendation for a specialist who rebarrels and does accuracy work on Redhawks?

Thanks,

Sam

Big Sam-

Just got a SRH .500JRH built by Jack Huntington. After waiting over 13 months, I was very dissatisfied with the workmanship. The barrel had several scratches and nicks, as well as areas that the tool bit galled the SS instead of cleanly cutting it. The cylinder had a rub ring around it, and had ugly polishing swirl marks on it. The barrel wasn't even given a brushed finish to match the frame. I'll email the pictures I took of his work, if you want them. I would never send him anything to work on again.

I have 5 revolvers made by Jack Huntington and I have also had revolvers built by Bowen and I would put Jack's work up against anyone's I also have several rifles built by Jack and they are fantastic. Every gun that he builds he STANDS behind them 100% From what I have seen of Jack's work I have a hard time comprhending what you aredescribing

I'll give another vote for Jack Huntington, I've shot several of his custom SRH's, and he does great work.

Another shop that knows how to slick up a DA Ruger is Magnaport.

I find that odd as I've heard nothing but rave reviews about Jack Huntington. In fact, my .480 SRH is going to him pretty soon for a 5-shot .475 Linebaugh cylinder.

I'm surprised no one is interested in seeing the pictures. I emailed a letter and the pictures to him a few days ago. So far, there is no response

mbartel, If you truely want to contact Jack, then the best way is to call him. The email for Jack may or may not be seen as Jack doesn't fool with computrs much, also I have not been successful in getting an email to go through

I am alwaysskeptical about anyone that claims to have a problem with a product and they start bashing it on the internet without contacting the manufacturer and working out a resolution, also what type of finish did you request and were charged for? If you want a proper resolution then you need to call Jack and talk man to man
Not very impressed with the way that you are addressing your dissatisfacting..... bull

I've had work done by both Mag na port and Jack Huntington. If one of my other revolvers needs work, I'll go with Huntington. Reason, his work is just as good as Mag na port, turn around time is good and prices are great!

Exactly...... cheers
I have owned Bowen built revolvers very good indeed, but the Huntington revolvers are everybit the equall in Accuracy, timing, reliablity, and if you ask and are willing to pay the cost the fitt and finnish is secound to none.
Tim Sundules owner of Buffalo Bore usealy has a revolver or rifle at Jack's shop ( I know this to be fact, because I have seen them at Jack's shop and Tim told me as much) and Tim can afford anyone's work, yet he choose's Huntington because Jack's work is equal to any and his prices are better than most.
They the digruntled poster paid for a bassic gun with just a factory finnish and then complains that it is not of best quality, yet only paid for a entry level revolver

Here is a simple modification that is being done in BC, Canada by Armco Machining http://armco-guns.com/ click on "What's New @ Armco" and check out the shortened barrels and new site ribs that this fellow is doing.

I am sending my 7.5" SRH 454 Casull up there next week. The shortening of the barrel and the sight rib installed is appr. $250.00 including taxes.

I think the 110 mm bob looks terrific. I'm assuming the cost is Canadian $? What sort of lead time for the work?

Thanks.

Actually it is about $300.00 Canadian funds but I am also getting him to tune the action and install a Wolffe spring kit as well. I don't know what the additional cost will be for that though.

I have been discussing with Gunnar @ Armco if he can also do a sight rib for a stock length 7.5" barrel so that both of my SRH's match. Sounds like he can for the 7.5" but the barrel of a 9.5" is to thin.

I'll be picking up the shortened SRH when it is finished and going straight to the gun club to sight it in with some of Gunnar's extra hieght replacement front sights.

I f everything checks out right I'm going to send my new 7.5" for the sight rib and action spring kit job as well.

That way I'll have matching handguns just one shorter than the other.

Sounds like he is doing one every month along with all the other work he is doing.

I'll have mine to him by the end of Oct 2006 and will be picking it up around Oct 20/06.

Moki; I emailed Gunnar and he informed me that he couldn't help us guys south of the border ;(

HOWEVER, when I asked if he would sell me an undrilled sight rib so a local smith could bob the barrel and install the sight rib, he was very interested. He said he would research the matter and get back to me. So US shooters may have access to a very cool front sight rib in a while. I told him I thought he would sell a bunch - what do you guys think? Is there a market for this rib, untrimmed and undrilled?

Whoooo Hooo.. it is more accurate than my old one so my old SRH is getting shipped today to get Gunnar's magic done to it.

Hi Big Sam...You might want to give Match Grade Arms and Ammunition of Spring, Texas a call..he has a web site, and ask for Kerry O'Day. He made a 500 Linebaugh for me and it is great. It does not look like Mr. Phillips' revolver though, as I asked for a 7.5" barrel on mine.

Please feel free to call us anytime between 10am and 6pm Pacific time.
