Can your cripmer work on both 10 and 12 bore or is a crimper needed for each size? A crumpe would be nice for my 8s and 4s but the brass is too thick to crimp as shown.
is this a way also to crimp a round ball?
Probably not a conical?

Hello cal pappas,
Thanks for the reply.

Currently the crimper will only work for 12ga. I might try modifying one by expanding it up to work for 10ga, and then see if it would still work for 12ga. If successful, it should work for both. I'm somewhat reluctant to do the modification however, because I think the market for 10ga is much smaller than for 12ga. But I will test.

As per the bullets pictured above in my opening post, I've only used the crimper with bullets that were cast from the mold that came with my paradox gun. They are conical. Although I haven't specifically tested on round ball, I'm sure it would work just fine. I'll dig out a round ball mold and test, and show some pics.........

.
.
....... UPDATE ...... SEE PICS BELOW ..... 12ga w/ ball ..... 12ga crimped ..... 10ga crimped ....

.
.
Well, even though its 5:30 am ..... I went to the basement and did some experimenting.

Yes ! ... crimper works great for round ball.

Yes ! ... crimper (modified) works great for both 12ga and 10ga.

.... and ........ I now have this "dual 12-10" crimper for sale.

Hello cal pappas,
Thanks for the reply.

I've only got a limited number of components left to make more of these - I can make 10ga, 12ga, 16ga, 20ga, and 28ga. crimp tools.

I've listed them on Guns International in case your 12-Bore Baker gent needs one.

Merry Christmas !

I spent some time between snow storms with my newly acquired 12-bore Rodda. (I didn't need another double rifle but it is an exact copy of my 4-bore Rodda).

Buck's crimp tool is absolutely amazing. It's quick and easy to use and (most of all) looks authentic. The crimp in the standard seating die is OK and has served for years but if a brass shell is a bit off in length or the diameter varies (common in pre-1900 doubles) the crimp may not work. Buck's tool works on all brass and any that is longer. My 12- bore tool also crimps my 10 bores as well.

Using it as I have, it's underpriced. (I say that now that I have bought mine).

Buck: you should contct the maker of the star crimpers and buy a case load and market these in quantity in the US, the UK, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

I got another crimp star a couple weekends ago - so contact me if you want a crimping tool.

Here's the last one I made - a 10ga / 12ga combo tool like the one that I made for Cal.

As posted earlier, I made a matched set in 10ga and 12ga Crimping Tools for a man in Pennsylvania - so that's no. 14 & 15.

And I was able to pick-up another crimp star so I can build one more in 10 or 12 gauge, and have a crimp star to build one in 20 or 28 gauge.

email or PM me if interested.

*********** UPDATE ************* 8/12/20

This same fellow just bought another crimp tool in 20ga.

.

.

*********** UPDATE ************* 9/05/20

and number 17

still have a few crimp stars available to make 10,12,20,28 gauge tools

pm me

Buck:
I hope you get a patent on this.
A couple of years ago a fella was selling a metal button to hold a sling on one's shoulder. Great idea. I bought several in South Africa. Someone copied his design.
Congratulations on the success of the tool.
Cal

Hello Cal,

Thanks for the continued endorsement. I've gotten a couple of patents in the past, but they were copied. I found it takes about $100,000 in legal fees to defend a patent. Never sold enough to make that much, so I don't get patents anymore. I'm just happy to supply my fellow shooters with an innovative tool.

I just sold my 18th crimping tool. I'm hoping to make more. Still have a few components to make 28ga, 20ga, 16ga, 12ga, and 10ga.

Please email or PM if anyone has interest.

Hello Cal,

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, the stamping adds "penache" to the tool.

I've had several inquiries about making my tool for the larger gauges.

and .... I just got an order to make a custom paradox crimping tool for an 8 gauge.

The fellow is sending me a couple pieces of vintage brass for development and testing.

I've got a concept on how to make tools for 8ga, and 4ga, and even 2ga.

I'll keep you posted on the results.
