Hi I have a lot of Reloader 22 left over from my 416 Rigby. Does anyone have any proven loads for the 8x68S with any weight bullets from 150 GR to 220 GR. Thanks . Dan

I don't but your on the right track Im thinking..Its a big ole case and should call for slow burning powder like 7828, RL-22, 4831 and 4350 etc. I think Ackley book gives loads, but in his day RL-22 didn't exist. I know what Id do is comapare 4831 to RL-22 and cut 10% and hold my breath, but won't recommend that to anyone..Its and old timers trick, and a few didn't survive. Probably best to call RELOADER and ask them..or maybe someone here will up some better advise..Check out comparable burning rates to start with..the problem with such caliber and wildcats is we fly by the seat of our pants, mostly get lucky, but sometimes surprised!!! Somebody hopefully has that information.

If the rumors that MRP = RL-22 are true, then you could use the MRP load data in this link
minus 10% as a starting load. I just found this link: http://www.laddata.se/caliber/8x68-s

Can you find primers for the 8x68?? That's one reason I didn't buy one a while back..RWS might make them, but didn't know so passed on a nice rifle.

I have 2 8x68s rifles. A BRNO 602 and a FN Mauser that was originally a 270 that I had re-barreled.

Large rifle primers work, either standard or magnum.

Ammoguide has a max load of 70 gr of RL 22 using a 220 bullet in A-SQUARE cases. Laddata is using 77 gr of MRP with the 220 gr bullet in Hirtenberger cases. If using RWS cases start at least 10% lower than Laddata loads.

8x68 is a touch bigger than 8-06 .. rl22 is a KNOWN LOAD for 30-06 with heavy bullets.. the rest is an exercise for the attendee

I have used 8x68 with 200 A Frames and Norma MRP for years successfully. MRP is considered by many the best powder for 8x68. As has bern stated before a lot of people think that R22 and MRP are identical so you are best equipped. The 8x68 is a marvelous cartridge with 200/220 grain bullets. And btw much stronger than 8-06.

I think you are confused my friend. 8x68 S cases can be made from 300 Win Mag.At one time Buffalo Arms was machining the belt off and running the case through a size die to reduce the shoulder diameter.I still have a couple boxes of such brass I used before I obtained my RWS brass. Its more that a touch bigger

Dan I have owned a couple 8x68S rifles and still have one. RL22 and 200 gr bullets work very well together. In RWS cases 73 grs of RL 22 was about max in 2 rifles. I found 200 gr Speer and 200 gr Partitions took the same loads and shot to very close POI. Used the Speers on smaller game and targets and the Partitions on bigger game. Very close to 338 performance. That is NOT a bad thing

The case head of a 10.75x68 is approx .490 and the case head of the 8x68s is approx .520. The only thing they have in common is the 68mm length. Buffalo Arms machined the belt off mag cases for the 10.75x68 Mauser. I bought 50 cases from them. I would like to see a fired case that was fired in a 8x68s rifle.

that's good to know, next time I won't let a good 8x68 get by me, I thought they were all Berdan, but figured you could problem ream them..I have such a tool I think..

I shoot a 8mm/06 Ackley IMP, so I bet Im pretty close to a 8x68..if not it'll do. and its on a light Brno mod. 21..pretty handy gun.

I bet RL-22 will be your best powder, if not it will be good enough..
