Hornady decided to quit making 405 win cases leaving us without cases .I am trying to get Starline to make them they make excellent brass but I need at least 50 people to call them .I have heard you can make 405 win out of 9.3x74 and 30-40 krag and 303 British .The last two end up with short cases .The hornady brass I tried was too thick and soft and crushed when I tired to load it

Crushed? I have made them from 30-40 brass with no issues. In fact I used to chamber 336 Marlins for it, a 2.2 inch 405, and got standard 405 velocities; lever would pop open after each shot. Pressure might have been, well, aggressive.
I made expander plugs for the Lee dies to open up the 30 cal cases. .
