I will be loading for a 416 Rem Mag soon. Any thoughts on powders to start with? I’ll be loading 350 gr monometals to start with, so powders on the faster end will probably be better.

I found IMR4064 worked better in my 416 taylor then R15.

one might consider that also.

Full on loads Re15 works pretty good. Reduced load Re7 / 400gr. My 416 Rem mag is a custom Zastava LKM70 full stock carbine (20" barrel).

4064. I use the AA variety with its short kernels, but I'm sure that the slightly faster IMR version will also do well in the .416.

I had excellent results, both in velocity and accuracy, with BL-C(2) and the 350 gr Speer.

I'm using rl-17 in my 416 Taylor, so it should work well in your 416 Remington.

83.5 grains pushes a 350 Speer out the 24" barrel at 2532 and delivers MOA accuracy when I do my part.

I've owned two .416 Remington magnums, both on Winchester Model 70 actions, and for full-power loads with 400-grain bullets I used RL-15. For reduced-power loads with the 350-grain Speer bullet, I used IMR-4895.

I used RL-15 to wear out one 416 Rem...another liked ImR-4064...Id recommend RL-15 and 2350 to 2400 FPS where ever your best accuracy is...Other powders on this thread work also...Just find the one that fits your need..I think the majority of handloaders Ive know used RL-15..

When I had mine, a dose of H4350, W760 or RE15 all had very similar results.
I used more 760 than the others, and tried Varget, but it was a good 100fps slower.

Never did try 4895, maybe I should have...too late now, sold that gun.

Cheers.
