Case Trimming Die for Big Nitro Express Rounds

Guys:

I'm setting up all of my reloading gear to start reloading for my .500 NE and .577 NE.

I will be buying case trimming dies for both rounds and have a question for the group:

What file would you recommend for doing the actual filing of the case?

Is one better than another? What type of "grit" (grooves on the file) would you use.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Unless you're set on a trim-die, I would call Forster... http://www.forsterproducts.com they will make the 577 trimmer for you.

Obviously that would not only work for the 577, but for the 500 and any other calibers you would need to trim.

If you don't have a trimmer, this seems to be more economical.

"The .746 rim diameter requires a specially made trimmer to hold the case rim. The .584 diameter bullet also requires a special case trimmer pilot. We modify our standard 50 BMG trimmer, then use a standard 5 3/8 inch long base to manufacture the 577 Nitro Trimmer. In 2005 the special 577 Nitro trimmer is priced the same as our 50 BMG trimmer. Please call one of our customer service specialists to order.

are you really going to shoot that brass so much that it would need trimming???

If you have the information at your finger tips, if you had to ballpark the cost to get the foster trimmer, what am I looking at?

Does it piggy back on the RCBS trimmer?

RCBS doesn't make a trimmer or case holder for their manual trimmer.

I've been picking up BeLL brass where ever I can find it. What brass I have already has been fred once already and a few of the cases need trimming.

And yes, I'm going to shoot this monster until my shoulder is black and blue. This gun ain't meant to be kept in the safe, but rather meant to spit fire. Often.

I have a 585 Nyati and I have not been able to locate a trimmer that will work, none of the cutters are big enough to work on the 577 diameter. The only thing I have found so far that will work on them is to do it in a regular lathe or to get a trim die. Huntingtons has trimmer set ups for the 500 NE and trim dies for the 577 cases. Let me know if you find a trimmer that will handle the 577 cases.
