Results today with my .338 WM Ruger Hawkeye and 265gr AB LR (0.732 bc) at about 2600 fps muzzle speed. Got my Nikon 4-16x calibrated for this load. Groups as shown at 220 yards (distance verified with my Nikon ProStaff 7i Rangefinder) off the bench with the scope set at 12x and aiming with the the -1 down mil dot.

A bit high at that range as expected since zero is 257 yards (and to the left about 2" since there was a breeze from right to left). Relatively light recoil with 2500 ft-lbs at 500 yards.

That's an incredible ballistic coefficient. Was this bullet designed with the Lapua in mind? Talk about "carrying the mail" way out there!

General purpose applications. Up close or at range. Launched not real fast yet retains ample downrange energy for positive smackdown. A bit higher muzzle speed with Re22.

I've shot 74gr. of Rl-22 with the 265 LRAB and got 2715 fps in my long throated 338. My 250 gr. AB load shoots better, so that's what I stayed with.

338 250gr AB has a 0.575 bc and can be launched at 2800 fps. Cool

250gr AB at 2800 fps vs. 265gr AB LR at 2700 fps. Energies are equal by 75 yards, 265gr has more downrange energy.

Results today at 300 yards. Breeze from right to left. Scope set at 16x aiming with the minus 2 vertical mil dot (322 yard zero). Easy to deliver an accurate enough 3000 ft-lbs on target with the Spot On app.

Results today at 626 yards. A bit breezy. Distance verified using a Nikon ProStaff 7i Rangefinder. At 12x aim Elk center kill zone with the bottom of the minus 4 vertical mil dot and it's kill zone Spot On. Cool

I built a 338 Win. on a 375 H&H action, and could seat out the longest of 300 gr. bullets in it, and got some real good velocity, but after the fun I sold it on AR I think..and went back to my 338 Win for elk..It competed against all the new .338s..
