I always counted friskies as bait. A catnip farm is NOT bait. It is more like an open season, fair chase zim adventure on some farmers back 40. A big bowl of friskies in the back yard though is good for cats, possums, unknown things at night, squillers, grackles, jays, and dumb crows. Contrary to popular belief, stoned cats are very active and make a challenging target. Its the ones sneaking in that are easy. According to the officious adopted rating schedule I claim a handicap for using an old Winchester 310, Redfield olympic sights and Aguilla 12X on a measured 37 yard field of engagement. No volley fire and mortar here in quiet suburbia!

NS, if I had Tick and Billy Bob plant about 5 acres of hemp do ya think I could lure in some of those young frisky kitties in the hip huggers and scarf halters? Not talkin' about hippie kitties from back in the 70's, mebbe more like their offspring if you get my drift.

On the subject of drift, didja know that if you eliminate drag or it's effects, your bullets won't be affected by drift? I'm not makin' that up BTW. It doesn't take much of a rocket motor to have a bullet that doesn't slow down. Thought you'd like to know about that. There's hope for the .17's yet...

All the major seed companies sell catnip seeds. Once the plants mature, just cut them off at the ground, dry in a paperbag, grind in the blender, compact in the trash masher, or baler, wrap in plastic, oh!, oh! just got carried away.

When you plant rows of catnip, don't put the usual seed packet envelope on a stick to mark the planting, instead put yardage markers on each row. It will simplify crat shooting later.

Another fine conservation tip....those Bergers are expensive.

N.S. Sherlock, are you off to the turkey hunt this weekend? I have a project starting up in your neck of the woods, New Bern to be exact. Local contractor doing the plumbing and HVAC began the underground on Monday, schedule called for a two week duration. They finished everything, fully inspected and pressure tested by Wednesday afternoon. Two crews, and some cash to the site work guys, to speed up haul in of select material for back fill of deep lines, so that the whole bunch could be at the lease on Friday, for Saturday's opener.
These guys take their turkey hunting serious!

Hello Worriedman. I'm up here in Roanoke Rapids. Looks like late season hunting for me. I wrecked my back a couple of weeks back, so have not been doing much but whining and babying the bones. Too much computer, not enough rifle range/hunt club. Although I usually do get a pretty good bit of time in speaking to Tom T.

Y'all got some good looking teritory over in that part of the world. I fly into Raleigh, and drive over to New Bern. Of course, it takes a while, red light about every 50 yards or so, but that stretch from Kinston into New Bern looks like some mighty good game country.

MY Gawd Clay, small wonder you hate crats, being up to your armpits in Nip and all. Just an observation mind you, but life on a gator farm or something that resembles one is a lot quieter and less burdened by crats. What you do with that information is entirely up to you, but there are still some undeveloped lots in the neighborhood.

Cratnip is part of the Mint family. It spreads by way of the roots much like bamboo.
It is best to plant this in containers.
And a good thing about containers is that you can position them for a safe and sure fire zone.

BTW, there was a new customer in the creek today, about 2' long. I won't name him yet since it's likely Al or Li'l Bob will eat his ass, but if he survives the summer I'll call him Micro Bob. Little gators are kinda cute, they make funny noises and have very sharp teeth. Their deficit is that they cannot handle a crat, and that is a serious deficit.

If it weren't for big gators we'd be up to our ass in little ones.

You have a perfect training opportunity with that small gator. Start accepting those boxes of kittens the folks give away outside of stores. You know - the please give our kittens a good home thing. Use them to train the small gator so he gets very used to eating small cats. When he gets bigger he will probably have developed a real appetite for big cats. You will have a life long and useful friend.

The catnip info has given me a good idea for christmas gifts. A box with catnip seeds, a Havahart trap, a collapsable shovel, and a box of .22 shorts. What a thoughful gift that keeps on, shall we say, giving.
