We had rain yesterday, and only Maktoum braved it because he wanted to make up for not being successful with his bow.

He shot a buffalo, kongoni and a bushbuck.

Rain last night too, and today we had our usual annual shooting contest.

Anders brought a can of his rotten fish, and tried to entice others to eat it.

Very few takers.

Everyonw had great fun, not least of it us.

Our friend Dan - DLS on AR - arrived this morning to start hunting with Alan tommorrow.

He is long time friend of all of us, and knows the Vincents for 40 years.

I have literally thousands of photos to post, which I will do once I am back home.

The plane that brought Dan is remaining here till tomorrow to take us to Dar.

Our pilot is with us in camp.

Rene - our long suffering hostess - is making a BBQ for us.

This lady is worth her weight in gold for putting up with all the shinanigans going on in this camp!

This annual safaris has become like a family get together, and everyone has an absolutely fabulous time.

Sheikh Saeed,
You guys must have had over 10 tonnes of meat. How does this get distributed? Do the villagers come pick it up, you folks deliver it to them fresh or does your team smoke it all and then distribute? Just curious

Congrats to Maktoum on his Buff with a rifle. Anyone hunting Buff with a bow has more balls than a pool table.

We re all back in Dubi.

Anders and Victor head home to Sweden this morning, Roy and Rene tomorrow to the US.

We all had an absolutely fantastic time.

Old friends with years of safaris experience, and new ones in Africa for the first time.

Dan arraived the day before we left, and we were all very happy to share our camp with im.

He is currently hunting with Alan.

As I mentioned earlier, Dan hunted first time with Roy the same year I did in the early 80's, and he has been a close friend of the Vincents ever since, just I am.

Going through Dar with firearms and COVID-19 requirements has been a breeze.

Tanzania's requirements for registration within 24 hours of arrival was arranged by our travel agent, Iris, who, as always, does a fantastic job.

Coming back both the police and customs were very friendly, and very efficient - the police officer kindly came up with us at Dar airport to the customs.

The customs office was empty - lunch time.

He went and got the lady in charge, who apologized and with a big smile - and a big laugh when she asked me to open my gun case, saying "guns".

I said they were NOT guns, but my very own BABIES!

That led to both of us talking about our kids.

She processed it very quickly, and we all left like old friends.

Emirates have their own immigration officers next to their counter, and the lounge was very efficiently, and very friendly, run.

Enjoyed lunch their and a few drinks.

Dar Duty Free is mostly deserted, not many shops apparently waiting for COVID-19 restrictions to open up before more shops are opened.

Not much I can add about Emirates, as they always provide the very best service, both going and coming.

Met hostesses from Korea, Ethiopia, India and Japan in First Class.

They found out where going, and said they wished to be going with us.

Walter, the perfect ladies man, tried very hard to persuade me to let them come too!

I will post more photos and videos, and answer any questions you might have.

Mlele is a very large area, and almost the perfect buffalo destination.

Old dugga boys everywhere.

Answers to questions received.

3 teams of hunters.

Peter Wadellow was guiding Maktoum and Walter.

Peter has been with us on many safaris before.

A very capable professio9nal hunter with a great sense of humor - he needed it, or he would not have been with us for so long.

Thabit Ali was guiding Anders and Victor.

This is the first time Thabit joined our safaris, and we are all glad he did.

A great professional hunter and we would be very happy to have him again.

Alan Vincent was guiding Roy and me.

Probably suffered more than any of the other two pros.

He had to put up with his father from one side, and me from the other.

We did our best to out do each other, and I think we ended up with a close draw!

My NO MISS bullets lived up to their reputation.

I did not miss a single shot.

Selection of which round to use was chosen by my friend Lema, our driver.

He makes quite show of which round to pick from my belt, and he always picked the right one! clap

Saeed, Thanks again for the wonderful evening with everyone. That was a special treat for me.

Now , with just Alan & I in camp with the staff; it’s awfully quiet around here. Gotta get to bed now, we’re getting up at 4:15; we have a date with a leopard in the early morning.

Good luck on the leopard Dan.

Roy and Rene just left my house to the airport heading home.

Another family get together has come to and end, after a great time was had by all.

Best of luck on the rest of your hunt.

My home made tse tse flies repellent proved to be better than Avon Skin So Soft.

It also works better against the small mopane bees that gets into your eyes.

Roy put onSkin So Soft, and I put on my own.

He was fighting the flies, while hardly any touched me.

If you wish to make your own, it is 50 percent DEET.

The rest is any mosquito repellent and 50 SPF sun screen.

Real men never use PICARADIN!

In the past I have told others it had zebra piss!

Nelson refused to use it, as he thought when everything evaporated he will stink like a zebra stallion! clap

Now you know why we left the camp so fast as soon as you arrived! rotflmo

Good luck with the leopard, those cats seem to feed either at midnight or mid day.

And make sure your blind is next to a very big tree, a herd of buffalo missed us because of that or we might have had more fun than we anticipated!

Even a prowling hyena tried to get into one of blind!

He took off so fast as soon as he took a whiff of us!

Didn't even have time to take a photo of him - got only his backside and the barrel of my rifle.

We have given meat to the village and game department.

Lots of meat is dried by our camp staff, which they use for several months after the hunting season.

Mlele is almost 2.5 times the size of our previous Selous concession.

It has an extraordinary amount of water, from streams and small rivers.

It has no major river as we had in the Selous.

It also does not have the large variety of game animals.

Impala and waterbuck are missing - when I saw one impala young ram, everyone thought I was joking.

It is the only one seen in the past two years, I think he might have come out of the neighboring park.

Very strange that no waterbuck are there, as the habitat is just great for them.

An enormous amount of buffalo and sable.

Lots of bushpigs, something one hardly sees in the Selous.

Strangely not many vultures??

Lots of reedbuck - some come and feed in front of our camp.

I am processing the video, but might take some time, as I have about 16 TB of footage from various video cameras, hand cameras, Gopros and drones.

Welcome home from a great adventure everyone
had.

Again no accidents with such a crowd either.

With all that water I didn't see any crocs. No?

With all that fresh meat just laying and hanging

nearly everywhere. Do you have any problems with

animal life trying to get easy meals from it?

Several of us have been wondering how many

buffalo were killed. Could you please give us a

brief report on numbers and species?

Great pictures as always, looks like a fantastic

area. How many years do the Vincents have it

leased? Did they build the platforms for the

tents, and trails? Looks like a much better idea

than on the level ground.

Thank you for sharing it all with us.

George

There are no large bodies of water in this concession, so no crocs or hippos.

Sometimes, apparently hippos do come in from the park next door.

Meat is protected from animals, but we do have hyenas and even leopards come to camp.

We had 21 buffalo on license, we shot 20.

Walter is the only one who failed to get his second buffalo.

Several sable, kongoni, warhogs, duikers and reedbucks and zebra.

One each bushpigs, roan and topi.

Another fabulous hunt Saeed! The pictures and quality of the Buffs your group shot are outstanding. Great to see you shot some fine Warthogs. I’ve only shot three Warthogs while hunting in Namibia, but they’re some of my favorite trophies, other than the occasional Eland and a monster Waterbuck from 2019.

Great photos, Saeed. You and your corps of photographers did great work.

And I hear you loud and clear about the selfies.

I have taken a few, but unless someone or something else was included in the photos, I have always been disappointed by the results.

Funny you mention this.

The paint is the same old one, painted by Hessa a few years ago.

We saw a sable bull running off an open area, he stopped just short of the forest.

Alan asked if he was too far, and I said just put the sticks up.

I tried pulling the trigger with the safety on, and had an almighty flinch, to the amusement of everyone.

I quickly recovered and shot him.

Our crew started imitating my flinch, and I told them it was done on purpose, as if that shot went off, it would have been a miss!

More laughter, and one said "you no miss. You very dangerous"

I’ve done it and laugh as hard as anyone watching. In Mozambique last month a Hunter was checking zero on a .416 Rigby from the bench, he did the same as you and flinched so badly that the rifle came out of the rest and hit the bench. He didn’t think it was funny. Wink

Not when I shoot!

I always YANK the trigger when hunting.

How I manage to hit anything is always a surprise to me!

Shot a roan very late in the day, could hardly see him in the shadows.

He was facing us, and can only be seen through a very small gap.

Shot him straight through the heart!!??

Alan said it was a hell of a shot.

I said lucky his number was up, because how I hit him I have no idea!

They all laughed, as usual, not believing a word I say! clap

This year we had three individuals from the dinosaurs era.

Walter, Roy and Anders.

These guys have a sort of allergy to learning anything about technology!

They have telephones, iPads and smart watches.

They know the absolute basics of their operation, but to delve into the finer functions their brains seem to stop functioning.

This, of course, led to an enormous amount of laughter.

take Anders for example.

He wanted to transfer photos from his camera to his ipad.

A very simple procedure to plug in a card reader and transfer the photos.

I tried to show him, he refused to learn, and just said "Victor will do it"

He is very good at fixing mechanical things, so I asked him how he managed to learn that.

He said there was no one to help, so he had to learn!

But, apparently we are making good progress, as I got a message that he managed to get his photos on the TV to watch!

To Anders it is like a trip to the moon!

Now the UAE has made it to Mars, may be we can persuade him to progress further!

Walter and Roy are still in the dark Ages.

I will let you know when they join us in the 21st Century! rotflmo

Saeed Reporting the on Dark Ages.

Many young and older individuals refuse to use the internet or learn about it.

Cell phones keep changing daily, what you purchase today will be out dated tomorrow. All one can hope for is to learn as you go. I will pick up a manual (most times it is on the internet) so that I have a reference to help guide me.

I have an ongoing battle with Microsoft, purchased a new computer with windows 10 a few (2 1/2) years back and all the Microsoft programs. Microsoft would not recognize the product key code for the product loaded. when the office professional program was opened up it was no longer returnable and Microsoft would not allow the product code to be activated. Something that I have done many times before using Microsoft systems. this went on for a few months and I was dealing with there service department to no satisfaction.

Long story short I told Microsoft that they were not the only one in the business and told Microsoft that if they did not activate the product code I would move on to Apple. I guess you guessed it, at that time I went out and picked up a Apple Mac computer, I-pad and I-phone. Plus, I am moving the wife to apple products.
