Zimbabwe Announces Resumption Of All Tourism Activities

The Government has with immediate effect allowed the resumption of all tourism activities, which had been suspended following coronavirus lockdown-imposed restrictions on the country.

This was revealed by the Minister of Environment, Climate, Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Mangaliso Ndlovu. He said:

"The resilience of the sector has been tested to the limit over the last six months. It, therefore, comes as a welcome decision that Cabinet has allowed all tourism activities that had remained shut down as part of the measures to contain the Coronavirus pandemic to now resume full operations."

Activities that have been allowed to resume include all boat operations, game drives, bungee jumping, zip lines, helicopter rides, lion walks, elephant rides and all registered tourism activities.

However, with restrictions on inter-city and inter-provincial travel still in place, the decision may have little impact on the resumption of tourism activities in the country.

Ndlovu said the government is actively considering reopening airports to both domestic and international travel.

He challenged the tourism sector to invest in and ensure safe operations through protocols such as temperature checkpoints, contact tracing, recording on the arrival of guests, physical distancing markings at their premises, deep cleaning and disinfection of facilities.

Interesting.

No matter what they do, we have to be able to get there. Wonder when the flights will start?

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."

Guys,

Ethiopian and Emirates will be starting up passenger service to Zim Oct 1. Ethiopian could be a better choice at this point since they do not require a Covid test within 48 hours of the RETURN flight as Emirates does.

Gracy Travel has a number of clients scheduled to go to Zim early Oct but at this point there is no official word on how Zim actually will handle Covid requirements on arrival.
