If Dean Kendall is your PH, please tell him Ross and Diane Murphy missed him in Natron...
Lance did a great job for us there.

Oh, I see, Walter and Maktoum are The Z Team.
Maktoum is carrying the water for Walter.
Quite good of him to be so tolerant, plumb noble.
Good luck to the entire alphabet, A to even Z, except Walter, good luck would surely be wasted on Walter. Poor Maktoum !

Walter is not hunting yet.

He is making sure MAKTOUM, Gary and Pete behave themselves.

He starts hunting in a few days time.

They came back empty handed yesterday.

They chased all sorts of animals but no luck.

Better luck today.

A day in the Selous.

Wake get woken up at 5.

I am normally earlier, and the first one in the mess tent, for coffee and breakfast when everyone is there.

Walter is usually the last one in.

No surprises there.

We saw some kongoni, but were not able to get a shot at a bull.

Decided to go look for a hippo for lion bait.

Hippos are plenty, in the forest by the river.

Trouble is finding a bull.

We spent a couple of hours playing silly buggers with so many hippos.

Some we do not see until we are 5 yards away behind an ant heep!

Quite exciting.

And to add to icing on the cake, we came across steaming, fresh elephant dung!

That is all we need, where one cannot see more than a few feet.

We left teh forest and walked in the river, saw the tracks of a large herd of buffalo going along the river.

After a few miles they decided to cross over to the other concession.

Not a very productive morning, but more than made up for it in excitement.

We got onto the truck, and drove along.

Saw two duggaboys.

Jumped out and started chasing them.

They got into the thickets by the river, luckily the wind was good, so we stayed behind them for a while.

We caught up with them, and shot both.

Very nice old bulls, with about 42 spread.

We spent the rest of the day cutting them up.

We put one up for lion bait in two locations, and took the second one back to camp.

Wonderful pictures. Thank you. Those ticks look especially nasty.

Reminds me of Theadore Roosevelt reporting of ticks in African Gametrails.

Fine pictures.

One thing I've looked for and yet to see
is the camp runway related to camp.
Keep expecting to see it from a drone
view.

Keep everyone safe,

Had a funny day yesterday.

Chased some buffalo but were not able to get close to them.

Then we saw a herd of eland far away, and made a detour to get down wind and get close to them.

Got to about 200 yards of them, with a very nice bull.

We stayed with them for quite a while, then they decided to move to the next concession.

We could have easily shot the bull, but recovering him would have been very difficult.

Had lunch under some trees, got a visit from our no so distance cousins, the baboons.

In the afternoon we went and shot a hippo in the river, for croc bait.

On the drive back to camp got a kongoni.

Saw a very large black bamba.

Unfortunately the terrain was not conducive to trying to get a photo or video of it.

Team B and Team Z were empty handed.

Team B trackers had the experience of tasting, and smelling, that Swedish delicasy, Surstromming.

Apparently it was quite interesting.

That would depend on the number of hunters holding a 21 day license: 4x3=12, 5x3=15 and the pecking order as to who is entitled to what - any which way you cut it, it is still quite a bag. Big Grin

I hope the experience was captured on video. Can't wait to see what the trackers thought about that delicacy
