Hunting Cortuda 9 in Mozambique with Mokore.

It is amazing how they have developed a barren shot and poached out area into an amazing hunting and wildlife block in 15 years.

Best free range Plains game I have been too.

Hundreds of Kudu and warthogs can be seen in a day.

Incredible what water, anti poaching and hunting dollars can do when a good operator runs an area.

Good luck!

You should see Coutada 11! What's been done there is nothing short of amazing.

Moz has always been intriguing. Haldane, ZDS, and DSC/DSCF have been helping quite a bit. What other organization has done more?

I’m biased, but damn.

Would any SCI/SCIF reps go help Angola open?

I'm a nobody around here, but if you go back ten or twelve years, I predicted Moz was going to be the "New Zimbabwe" and I'm glad the place has bounced back and hunt prices are reasonable..

Folks,

I hunted Coutada 9 in 2000 and at that time it had amazing free range PG and some huge lion. As Mike said huge warthog and big kudu seemed to be everywhere. Today it is a hunting paradise but only because of the ever vigilant anti poaching and stewardship of the land provided by Mokore Safaris. There may be no better place in Southern Africa to collect spiral horns or an array of other sought after species than Coutada 9.

Mike, I hope you have a great safari.

I also hope your own statements here will change your past repeated comments that hunting does not contribute to conservation in Africa.

I would think Coutada 9 would be the ultimate example of hunting contributing to conservation in Africa. Barry Duckworth said his first reccy into Coutada 9 when Mokore was first thinking of taking up a lease on the Coutada revealed 2 vultures fighting over a cane rat. Period! Game was super scarce. Today you'd have to see it to believe what's turned into.

Mark,

Exactly right. I hope Mike will retract some of his earlier comments on the subject after seeing with his own eyes, success of the Conservation Through Hunting model.

Thank you gents, appreciate the sentiment. I was just trying to convey that with just two safaris, I am in awe of most of you. I hope to go on at least two more!
